Onyx Residence — Hotel in Jakarta

This was the cheapest hotel I could find in the Bendungan Hilir/Semanggi/Sudirman/Slipi Petamburan area, so I wasn't expecting anything amazing-- and I certainly didn't get it. But, the hotel is generally clean and cared for, and the rooms are comfortable enough. If you go expecting a basic hotel, but one that may not conform to a western hotel ideal, you will find it's good value. The patio on the second floor is also fairly pleasant, though the perpetual traffic in front of the hotel is visible through the trees.||||However, I must add that the service is not very good at all. The staff are mainly young men and women who have clearly never taken any workshops (let alone a diploma) in customer service or hospitality, and the management seems to be fine with leaving them to their own devices. Asking for breakfast within the designated hours (included in the price), I was often met with either a blank stare or thinly veiled petulance at being asked to do something. Lest you think there was a language barrier, I spoke in Indonesian!||||The worst came after I had a tea on the patio one night. The next morning, a staff member explained that the menu was wrong, and I had to pay an additional Rp. 10 000! I patiently explained (again in Indonesian) that I paid my bill last night in accordance with what the menu stated, and I would not be paying anything more. That was the last I heard of it, though I later noticed that the menu still hadn't been changed...||||Anyway, to sum up: it's OK value, but the management should attend to the service issue if they don't want to get squeezed out...

I went to Jakarta with 23 members of my family to attend a wedding. All of us stayed at groundfloor. The room setting for this hotel is suitable for us to have regular discussion about our itineraries. Also as my mother needs wheelchair for mobility, this hotel is suitable for her. ||The location of this hotel is also quite central, being near to Bendungan Hilir or Benhil which have a lot of foodstalls and restaurants to choose from. And if you like shopping, Tanah Abang, Thamrin City and Senayan is just nearby. It is also near to a traditional local wet market and very easy to flag taxi and other public transports. NOT RECOMMENDED Saya check in pada tgl 7/3/2018 jam 13.10 dan check out pada hari itu juga jam 15.00, karena Saya sudah terlanjur kecewa. Mengapa ? Saya tiba didalam kamar dan melihat isi kamar yang membuat Saya kesal, yaitu NO SOAP, NO SHAMPOO, NO TOOTHBRUSH, NO MINERAL WATER dan bahkan HANDUK pun hanya 1. Okelah, Saya turun kebawah menanyakan kelengkapan tersebut dan mereka hanya menjawab nanti diantarkan. Saya menunggu agak lama akhirnya datang hanya mengatakan kalau mereka memang tidak menyediakan AIR MINUM dan AIR MINUM bisa diambil diluar yang telah disediakan yaitu DISPENSER. “ Ok “ Saya bilang. Tapi bagaimana Saya minum kalau tidak ada gelasnya ? Mereka menjawab “ Gak ada ya didalam “ ? Saya jawab “ TIDAK ADA “. Ok, gini aja Saya pesan ES TEH MANIS saja. Mereka juga mengantar agak lama Saya menunggu, karena sudah terlalu HAUS. Sesudah diantar ES TEH MANIS nya, Saya meminta untuk diantarkan SABUN, SAMPO & HANDUK. Tetapi, Saya menunggu lama dan akhirnya Saya kesal. Saya langsung check out pada saat itu juga dimana mereka udah menuju kamar untuk pengisian SABUN DAN SAMPO. Bukan bermaksud menjelek-jelekkan, tetapi tolong dihargai tamu yang datang. Saya juga menginap bukan dengan harga yang murah. Banyak penginapan diluar sana jauh lebih baik dan murah, tetapi tidak seburuk ini. TOLONG DITINGKATKAN KUALITAS ROOM dan PELAYANAN NYA...
