This is a very detailed review. All in all, I rate it 5 stars, because it is indeed a great location and resort.
We stayed in the offpeak season Late April.
Candidasa is a great location in Bali if you want to relax and stay out of the full on tourist area. It still has many things to see, but you can always do a day trip to Ubud to see more tourist things. While we were there we say the 1. Water Palaces, 2. Old Village (oldest village in Bali predating Hinduism 3. Rice Patties 4. Art Gallery 5. Markets 6. Bali Plantation. We stayed in room 24, which is 2nd level, overlooks restaurant and you can see some water. The staff here, as well as the whole area are REALLY well manured and will go out of your way to get you anything you require. English is quite good compared to a few other places as well. This is one of the only resorts in the area where you have a small beach frontage, which is good because sometimes the pool although not heated, is too hot, so the ocean is cooler and you can take a dip. Massages are available right on the water for only $9 for 1 hour which is great value. The restaurant is nice and food is decent, however for the prices they are charging on some meals, you can get better elsewhere such as Vincents or Refresh. We ate half our meals at the restaurant because of convenience although prices were high. We never got sick or food poisoning and food was all above standards. If restaurant food quality increased and prices came down a bit, this would be a 6 star review. There is many boat people on the beachfront that will offer to take you snorkelling or to White Sand Beach. We went to White Sand Beach and also snorkelled around the little islands. If I had my time again I would probably only go and snorkel around the little Islands, it was a lot better than White Sand Beach. For half a day trip snorkelling for two it should be no more than 500k, for four people no more than 700k, for longer trips allow more $$. White Sand beach is not really that White, it still has a lot of Black sand and you will find many nicer beaches in Australia, however you can sit on the beach and have food/drinks served to you from many restaurants sitting on the forefront and go for a dip in the very clear water. It is worth doing the cooking glass and the day trip offered by the Resort. It’s a great price and an experience that can’t be had other places. We picked out a main meal, and desert, then went into a local village where fresh produce was bought and then we came back and cooked it up with the in house Chefs. Bali Palms is owned by the same owners and you can travel for free between the two. Bali Palms Resort has a full spa treatment, bigger pool and facilities, gift shop and ATM. They also host a few events on such as live bands. We visited three times during our stay and it was great. Our room had aircon, tv, bathroom, bath, shower and room service every day. Our room was cleaned, bed made, and bottled water provided during...
Read moreYou can't polish a turd. The staff were all lovely and doing their best but there's only so much you can do with a property that is so outdated and poorly maintained. I would say maybe it was nice 30+ years ago but even the furnishings, finishes and materials they used are ugly and basic.
We stayed for 7 nights as part of a "promotion" wherein we had to attend a timeshare presentation. If you are considering heading here for this offer:
They also charged a ~10 USD daily resort fee but I'm not sure what for? The grounds are ugly and I didn't even get into the pool it looked so dirty/murky. The restaurant was OK with a decent happy hour and they had live music one night.
Oh and forget getting a decent night's sleep. The curtains are sheer and the hall lights are on all night.
Also costs about $100 to even get here and back. Other than some markets and restaurants there's nothing to do.
The promotional rate came to about $40/night which is at least double what it should be. You can find something much newer, nicer and more central with minimal effort. Apparently their regular rate is about $100/night which is DELUSIONAL. If I paid that, I'd burst into tears and have a mental breakdown upon check-in. To clarify, I am currently budget traveling with my husband going on 3 months so we are not staying in expensive/luxury properties, our accommodation has been somewhat hit-or-miss. Call it "research" - we have stayed in about 20 different properties around Bali and Thailand in this price range. This "resort" is probably the worst - at least comparable to a couple others where, disappointed and exhausted, after 2 nights we would decide to move along. 7 nights was rough. And thinking this place could "promote" anything is...
Read moreMy family and I spent 2 months exploring Bali and BSBC was one of our stops. Originally intending to stay for only 3 nights before heading to Amed, we ended up returning two more times during our travels to Gili Islands and Sidemen, totalling 10 nights.
The location is peaceful and serene, away from the hustle and bustle of the main road. The kids loved the pool and the food was good, though there are also plenty of nearby dining options to choose from. Swimming and snorkelling are possible out front, although it's not the best spot we've come across. We highly recommend taking a boat or driving down to Blue Lagoon near Padang Bai for better snorkelling, about a 30-minute drive away.
BSBC offers live music several times a week between their resort and their sister property, Bali Palms Resort, which they provide a free shuttle service to. While Candi Dasa itself is still relatively quiet and not much is happening after the pandemic, it's a welcome escape from the busy areas of Kuta and Sanur. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. I highly recommend getting a massage from the two lovely ladies, it was one of the best massages I have had in Bali. For the price, we think it's excellent value for money. We highly recommend BSBC and would definitely...
