Warung Candidasa Moka — Restaurant in Kecamatan Karangasem

I found this place by chance while browsing Google Maps. I’d been eating at the same spot for a few days and wanted to try something different — and I’m glad I did. It’s located a little off the main road, so it’s quieter and more relaxed. Because it’s not right on the main street, prices are also a bit lower (not by much, but noticeable).

You can choose to sit outside or in a small air-conditioned room inside. The indoor area isn’t big — fits about three or four groups — but it’s very clean and comfortable.

The food here is excellent — definitely 5-star quality. Tasty, well-seasoned, generous portions, and beautifully presented. You can even ask for fresh lobster outside the menu. Everything we tried was spot-on.

During our visit, one of the staff was apparently sick, so the waiting time was a bit longer than usual, but it didn’t bother us. It’s the kind of place where you just slow down and enjoy the food.

Bonus tip: they also offer a local “taxi” service — car or scooter rides to places tourists rarely visit. Worth asking about! Payment by card...

If I could give less then one star I would give it. The worst dining experience that we have had in the whole of southeast asia. All the dishes we wanted to order were no longer available (it was 18:30), so we ended up getting the last possible thing. All was fine by then. Until the food came out.. which didn’t look very appetizing to begin with. We wanted to add some extra flavor (it needed it desperatly..). I added one of the sauces which then exploded because the bottle was so old and clogged. It was all over the floor, our food and us, instead of helping us they let us clean it ourself and when asked for a restroom to freshen up, we were brought to a back room where there was no light or sink. We had such a wonderful experience at this café! The food was absolutely excellent fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The service was just as outstanding. The team went above and beyond for us, delivering our meals multiple times during our stay and always doing so with a smile. What truly stood out was when they cooked fresh fish for us after our fishing tour it was such a special experience to enjoy our own catch prepared perfectly by their kitchen. Their kindness, attention to detail, and dedication to making sure we were happy made our time here unforgettable. We can’t recommend this café...
