Astawa Warung is located about 50 meters from our hotel and has been a great find. The menu offers plenty of local Balinese/Indonesian dishes as well as other Asian options. Portion sizes are surprisingly large. Prices are much cheaper than at the hotel — not the cheapest on the island, but absolutely worth it for what you get.
The food is really delicious. If you want a more authentic local taste, tell them to add more spice. By default, the flavor is slightly adjusted for tourists and made milder.
Service is very friendly and fast. We have eaten here several times and plan to come back again. Highly recommend trying the duck, but you need to order it a day in advance — definitely worth it.
Keep in mind: the warung is located right by the roadside, so there is some traffic noise. Most warungs in this area are set up the same way, so it’s part of the experience.
Bonus: from here you can also ask for “taxi” service. The local guys can take you by scooter to places where tourists normally wouldn’t go — all for a very reasonable price.
Overall, a great place if you want real local flavors, good portions, and fair prices....
Read moreA long time ago, many years before covid, we had some pleasant meals here, so finally being back in Candidasa, we had dinner here again, expecting the same standard. What a disappointment! My babi kecap consisted of unsalted bits of meat covered in a starchy sauce without a kecap or any other taste. The other dish had basically the same sauce and was just as bad. The only way to add flavour was to make lavish use of the industral bottles of chili and soy sauce on the table. Our blandest meal in Bali ever. Still, other people seem to like the food here, judging from the number of clients we see sitting inside every time we pass the restaurant on our way to some real Balinese food at Warung Boni. How people can prefer Astawa over Boni is a real...
Read moreFinally it is open again!!! 🙏 We went there yesterday and it was the best food I've ever tried in Bali. The Spring Roll was handmade and stuffed with really fresh vegetables. After that we had a delicious fish curry (my new favorite 😍) and fish in banana leaves with garlic Prawns (also ridiculously 👍)! For dessert we had banana Pancake with honey. Every part is handmade and cooked by the owner and his lovely wife is doing service. Great and nice people!!!
I highly recommend to go there if you are around!!! Really authentic balinese food for a good price. Each set we had costs about 90k (Spring Rolls, Main dish and dessert). By the way...there is Bintang happy hour from 5pm till 8pm 😋
Best food ever hear on the island. Please...
