Warung Onel — Restaurant in Kecamatan Karangasem

If in Candidasa, Warung Onel is a must if you want to taste the best grilled fish around. Forget the big restaurants and support the local community, you will be pleasantly surprised with the quality and freshness of their dishes. Run by Husband and wife Onel & Iril this family run warung - bar is well worth a visit. Located just around the bend at the east end of Candidasa. Fresh fish & seafood cooked to perfection but also chicken dishes, spring rolls etc. The must have dish is Onels grilled fish that is cooked on a grill over coconut husks. So good went back next night for a specially prepared fish, spiced & seasoned to perfection, wrapped in banana leaves & cooked on the grill. They are so welcoming you are treated more as a friend than a customer. I really recommend visiting and eating at Warung Onel.

As a tourist we usually tend to go to fancy (expensive) restaurants and we miss the local small places where you can truly meet the lovely Balinese people.

Right after we arrived they welcomed us very kindly and they got our food orders though it was quite late (after 10pm) and all other places’ kitchens around were already closed.

All other customers were very friendly and we started to sing and dance altogether having one of the best times in Bali so far.

I give 5 stars to this place and the manager, he was very nice with us and definitely I will come back in my next visit to...

I had dinner here for 5 nights out of 7 nights my stay in Candidasa.

Owner couple Onel and Iril, waitress, kitchen staff are all very friendly and welcoming. They play music with speaker and let us choose our favorite ones from YouTube.

I especially enjoyed fresh seafood such as octopus, pepes and grilled fish! Prices are reasonable.

They open untill 11pm which is considered late in this area, so if you can't find restaurants open till late or looking for supper, then just go here!
