I had a bad experience staying overnight at Quest Hotel alone for a business trip on 12-13 Nov 2024. At that time around 23:00 (I just checked in at 22:00), someone tried to enter the room (presumably using an access card that was obtained from who knows where, because I remember very well that the hotel has a door that is hard to close, so it needs to be slammed). Luckily it was blocked by the security slot lock (latch lock)... suddenly a stranger's hand appeared from the gap and slipped in to try to open the security slot lock from the outside. After I shouted the question 'WHO ARE YOU?' up to 3 times, the person immediately ran away. The dial guide on the phone was faded, so I had to search for the phone contact on Google, called 1x but was not answered, until the third time the receptionist picked up the call. Reported to the receptionist, however, they insisted that I forgot to close the door, so someone else who happened to be in the wrong room could push the door.
How does it make sense that, because it is impossible to lock a door with a latch lock if it is not fully closed. Besides, if someone is in the wrong room and the slot lock (latch lock) is already stuck... why does their hand still go in to try to open the lock hook? That means there is someone in the room and it is not their room.
I asked the receptionist by room phone to open the hotel CCTV to find out who the person was, however, they said it could only be processed the next morning with the manager's presence. There was no effort to find the person who tried to open the door. The next morning, I was informed by the hotel manager. When I checked out (I still had 1 night reserved at Quest Hotel), he met me with apology for the inconvenience that occurred and told me that the CCTV in the corridor of my room was dead. ... I have proof of the chat, they inform later that day after I checked out by Whatsapp. There was no effort from the hotel to check the CCTV in different positions to see if people were circulating at that hour, and when followed up from the hotel, they did not provide a clear explanation as seen in the Whatsapp chat. Never know, whether the CCTV is really dead or just to avoid problems. What is clear is that if the CCTV is dead, it is a 'flaw/negligence' in protecting hotel customers. The only evidence of attempted criminal activity is lost.
Another question that remains... why was the person able to hold the access card to another room, if the person was in the wrong room? Was the access he held the usual access for certain people like...

I’ve stayed here many times and I delight in the nearby warung selling sate, rawon, soto ayam, etc.
The staff are super helpful and professional. They have solved many problems over the years for me.
You can buy drinks here to sip around the pool but this hotel doesn’t have that party or boozy vibe.
Stairs need not be encountered as there’s lift access to all facilities.
If you don’t mind Indonesian food then the breakfast buffet is really good for this class of restaurant. Aside from the standards such as bubur ayam, fruit selection, and nasi goreng, the other dishes are on rotation. These include ayam goreng, ayam rendang, juice of the day. You won’t find bacon at this hotel.
Tip: they do breakfast eggs “any way”, you just need to ask the staff. I didn’t notice signage inviting you to do this.
The rooms also punch above their weight for this price range. Well maintained and clean.
