I was actually very excited to sleep at the Lighthouse cottages because I saw some really nice pictures, videos and reviews. Although I don't usually write bad reviews, I think we left the place with some mixed feelings..
Plus Points: Very friendly staff in the café The aesthetics of the café and room are very nice. Food and coffee are good. Very close to the waterfalls
Min Points: They have a very serious problem with woodworms, both in the room and the restaurant. When we arrived in our room, the floor was already completely covered with frass , (so it also seems that the room was not really cleaned properly before arrival), same at some tables in the restaurant, and it even got in some of our food. The rooms look nice but they are completely open. So no place to safely secure your belongings + a lot of insects in the room + you can hear everything from outside and if other guests are speaking in the room next to you, you can hear everything. We stayed multiple nights so our room got pretty dirty with all the frass and feces of gekkos (?). They should either provide a brush at the room or maybe clean the room if people are staying more than one night. Lastly, although the staff in the café was very friendly. I think the people that are managing the place are not friendly at all. They are there most of the time, but don't engage with their guests at all, a simple 'good morning' or 'hello' is not that hard and is also much more professional in my opinion.
So I would say, go to the café and try some of the delicious food, but stay somewhere...
Read moreStayed for one night before our rinjani hike. Our welcome was warm and the food was excellent! The view is great and the staff tries really hard. Kudos!
The rooms however need some attention. Decent bed with full protection against bugs. However, the cealing was half broken and very noisy with hearing everything from our neighbours above us. The shower left something to be desired too (which is one thing you'd like to be good before a long hike). And to top it off, we found an enormous spider in our room when we entered. Luckily, a staff member helped us with that. (And too be fair, you are in Forrest type of area). Recommend to pre check rooms before letting guests in. Everything else was clean and as you'd expect.
Another pointer is the breakfast. The staff seemed to be very familiar with early morning pick ups, but do not have take away breakfast options. We had breakfast included, hoping, like other hotels, a decent take away breakfast would be possible, especially with so many guests doing the rinjani hike. But the only thing what the staff could do was to offer cold coffee and cold pancake?? The argument that was used is that the hike organisation would give us breakfast. Which basically means that we paid for something and didn't receive it. Id strongly urge the hotel to look into this.
In short. Come here to eat and the staff will work hard to facilitate you. And if you don't mind the basic nature of the rooms a night here is ok. But don't book it with breakfast or book many night here if you're looking for...
Read moreThis was a delightful stay in Northern Lombok. First off the interesting part of this stay is that each cottage hut is different and just walking around the estate is a delight. Alot of thoughts and effort has gone into ensuring the stay is really pleasant. We stayed in a traditional family hut style (saw a huge huntsman spider 🕷️ but that was expected) with ample space and a huge bathroom. Second, the location is well situated if you are heading to the Senaru traditional village nearby (just a short 5mins walk away) or to the start point of the waterfall (just a short 5-10mins walk away. Third, the food served at its restaurant was a big surprise, we thoroughly enjoyed the local food served at affordable prices (especially the Gado Gado with really thick chunky peanut sauce!). Great breakfast too to kick off a day in Senaru.
A big plus is also the friendly staffs which made our stay feel really welcoming! We were also invited to their outdoor movie screening in the evening.
Tip: The coffee is really great here, it don't only come looking nice in its own iconic ceramic wares, it tastes really good too...
