I stayed with my big family during 2013 year end for 3 days. We booked villa 4 which contains 14 deluxe rooms. We arrived at night and the staffs were ready to help us with our luggages (lots of luggages). My first impression when entered my room was amazed with the cleanliness. I can tell that everything in the resort are well maintained and cleaned. I also amazed with the availability of the staffs. It seems like they have lots of staffs to do anything. At least 2 staffs were cleaning the rooms per level (consists of 2 levels @ 7 rooms) at the same time in the next morning. I usually see only 1 or maximum 2 staffs cleaning the whole hotel per level which usually consists more than 15 rooms per level. They told me they have 30 staffs for the whole resort which consists of total 23 rooms. All rooms in villa 4 consists of twin beds. TV in some rooms are still big box TV, not a flat LCD TV. All rooms have AC and balconies with swimming pool and nice scenery view.||||Breakfast are so so, consists of fried rice/fried noodles, 1 soup, vegetables stirfry and 1 or 2 other items if I am not mistaken, 2-3 varieties of small local snacks, 1-2 varieties of fruits, 1 person who cook egg, white toast with 4 varieties (2 fruit jams, 1 butter, 1 chocolate), tea, coffee and 1 juice.||From the breakfast area which is not too big, you can see fish pond on one side (childrens favourite) and great natural view on the other side.||||Swimming pool is clean and of course very cold considering the temperature. Unfortunately no pool for children.||||There is a lot of trees including fruit trees in the resort. You can view Merapi mountain while sitting under shade of a big tree. it is so fresh and relaxing.||||For those who want to shop can go to Mirota Batik near the resort. Some nice local restaurants also available near the resort. I will suggest to try Mbak Carik's local dish called "pecel". Delicious and very cheap.||||We did a Merapi tour with a jeep. It was nice to view and listen to the story about the Merapi volcano eruption. But this tour is not suitable for old people or small kids since the the roads is not smooth at all, buf fun for the youngster.||||FYI, you have to reserve minimal 1 villa or 4 deluxe rooms. Resort consists of 1 villa with 2 bedrooms, 1 villa with 3 bedrooms, 1 villa with 4 bedrooms and 1 villa with 14 deluxe rooms.||||I will definetely will return to this resort and recommend this...
Read moreI was recently booked at the Kalyana hotel in Jogjakarta. I was very pleasantly surprised by the lovely little resort located above Jogyakarta on the slope of the Merapi volcano. By countless little details, you can see that the hotel is well managed and that the employees are taking pride in what they do. Gardens are manucured. Rooms are probably the cleanest and the best maintained that I have seen those past 6 weeks in Indonesia. Not always the case in Indonesia especially in those mid range hotels. All rooms are overlooking the garden and lush countryside. Temperature at night must be 2 or 3 degrees below normal because of the slightly higher altitude, perfect for sleeping without any A/C. Pool is large enough for an early morning exercice. Very peaceful as a bit far away from the main road. The staff is extremely friendly and efficient. All rooms are equipped with complimentary wifi. TV offers a fairly good selection of both local and international TV channels. Food was excellent. Price of about 4 millions IDR is on par with some not so good neighbouring hotels where I had to stay on some other nights. An overall wonderful experience. I strongly recommend it to both domestic and foreign travellers looking for a nice property conveniently located to explore all the beautiful surroundings of Jogyakarta. Access to Merapi volcano and Borobodur is very easy through some scenic backroads where you can see the pristine beauty of the Java countryside. Airport is about 20 mn away. Jogyakarta city center about 15 km but traffic is not too bad on a great...
Read moreBeautiful place with beautiful scenery! They provide private rooms as well as villas with direct door to an amazing green garden. The breakfast is also great, beyond my expectation. I went there for a little staycation while doing some job in Kaliurang. Too bad when we were there, there's a group of families rented one of the villa. They're totally loud. We cancel meeting with a coworker in the afternoon because their kids screaming non-stop in the swimming pool area for hours until sunset (the swimming pool is about 10-25 meters from my room). In the night they have a birthday party with long and loud karaoke session (of bapak2) . Loud enough to make us left our room to find somewhere quieter to chill.
People choose resort like this to chill, find some peace and relaxation. I wish my next stay would be better without any annoying...
