Gunung merapi mempunyai kawah yg aktif dan termasuk salah satu gunung yang paling aktif di dunia. Ketinggiannya kurang dari 3000m berlokasi di daerah Boyolali, Klaten, Muntilan dan Yogya. Gunung ini menjadi favorit bagi para pendaki. Medanya yang tidak terlalu sulit dan jarak tempuh yang tidak terlalu lama menjadi alasan para pendaki. Jalur via Selo Boyolali merupakan jalur paling ramai dan tervaforit. Perlu diketahui batas pendakian G Merapi ialah Pasar Bubrah sehingga sangat tidak dianjurkan lebih tepatnya dilarang untuk melanjutkan ke Puncak karena berbahaya dan sudah beberapa korban meninggal dunia. Gunung merapi dengan pesonanya mampu membuat pendaki rindu seakan untuk datang lagi namun hingga saat ini status pendakian masih ditutup karena aktivitas kawah merapi. Bila anda dari arah Solo/Semarang berhenti di Alun2 Boyolali dan ikuti beberapa plang petunjuk disana yg mengarah ke Selo/Cepogo untuk menuju BC Merapi.
