This was our first accomodation on our trip accross Sulawesi and when we arrived there, after all day ride, our first impression was: "No, not here, it must be a mistake!". Everything was dark, in the middle of nowhere, noone around. Well this was this. We got the key of a room, which after all wasn't so bad. It was big, bright, with a terrace overlooking rice fields and nearby main road, good beds and something that used to be a bathroom 20 years ago. After a while we also got towels and learn how to make water flow and how to heat it. But the breakfast was suprisingly good and in the morning everything looked better. The staff (mainly kids) were all very friendly and they were doing their best. We got everything we asked for after we managed to 'tell' and show what we want (we don't speak indonesian and they don't speak english). But this hotel used to be a top end hotel - this is written in my old michelin guide from 2001! Unfortunately nobody did nothing since it has been built. That's pitty because it has a potencial with it's garden, pool, open restaurant terrace, big rooms. And this was the only accomodation on our trip where the room was cleaned and the beds were made every day. The hotel is clean but criyng for...
Read moreWe stayed here 2 nights because the options upon our arrival in Rantepao were pretty slim. We booked Riana Homestay in advance through Agoda but they decided to give away our room and not honor the reservation. ||Rantepao Lodge's location is slightly out of town but it's easy to get a tuk-tuk into town (5 mins, 10000 Rps). The staff members are friendly enough but their English is pretty limited. As stated in the other reviews, the rooms are old and desperately need a make-over. Our windows were partially broken and had no screens. Water pressure in the shower was practically non-existent, but what little water did come out was hot at least. After 2 nights we changed to another place. ||Not a terrible place to stay but there are better, less expensive options in Rantepao if you are lucky enough to find an available room at...
Read moreAn average hotel, nicely located in the middle of the rice field. ||||Major selling point is the outdoors: spacieous, beautiful garden, great pool (with al lot indonesian kids hanging there however), al in a fake, but nice Torajan style. Nice views of the countryside.Sadly the main road is about 50m nearby, so now and then a horn distrubes the peace and quite. ||||The standard rooms are clean en spacious but basic, some stuff not working/falling apart. Deluxe rooms only slightly better. Staff is not bad, not great either. During high season, it was overpriced imho.||||The resort is too far to walk to centre of Rantepoa. 5 min moped ride is neccesary. I can not reccommend the resort restaurant. Go to Rantepoa of the restaurant at...
