Probably one of the good thing about this hotel is the location.
Then the reality kicks. The rooms are very dark, there is no decent light in the room itself, only at the entrance. The windows are small and don’t give enough sunlight. If you’d like to read before going to bed, forget about it, it’s not possible - bed light is not sufficient.
There are no non-smoking rooms. Although the staff claimed there is no smell, the odor is there and you cannot escape it.
The bathroom set is very good however there is no bathroom mat so you either have to step on bare tiles after taking a shower, which is disgusting, or use one of the towels as a bath mat, which I personally do not find acceptable.
The hotel has sexists rules - there is a swimming pool, gym and sauna which women cannot use. I am sorry, but even in Saudi there are female hours for these amenities. Then why the hell I have to pay the same price as men? The respective deduction has to be made to accommodate for this unacceptable policy of ZERO hours for females. This is totally unacceptable!
Finally, at the checkout I saw illegitimate change of USD 12 on my bill, allegedly for the use of minibar. I’ve asked when did I use it and the staff at the reception told me that when my room was cleaned yesterday, 11 May, they’ve noticed the use of minibar. The problem is that MY ROOM WAS NEVER cleaned over the three days of my stay! The trash remained, the used shampoo bottles were not replaced, the bed never made. So how can one claim that my room was MADE and something was taken from the minibar, than in fact, first of all, it was not, and second you did NOT make the room.
Oh, the personnel is not trained. The reception is rude, not knowing how to talk to customers. The porters do not do their job, just sit around the lobby. They didn’t even bothered to take a suitcase from me, a women, neither at the arrival, no during the departure.
If the hotel wants to attract international guests, it won’t happen with this quality of service. I come to Erbil at least once in a month and know what Erbil can offer with regard to the hotel quality. I had to advise against this place to all my colleagues.
So never...
Read moreWarning – Do not book this hotel!
We booked two separate rooms, one of which was for two people. We, who stayed in that particular room, didn’t get a minute of sleep that night. The noise insulation was non-existent – every sound from the street came right into the room. Without exaggerating, it felt like we were sleeping on the balcony. On top of that, loud bangs from the roof could be heard every other hour throughout the night.
In the morning, we went down to the reception to report how unacceptable it was to place guests in such rooms. Their excuse was that “people who usually stay there are used to the noise” and that we had booked a room close to the street – as if that was our choice. Since when do guests get to choose their exact room when booking?
Their “solution” was to let us move into the third person’s room and offer a measly $20 discount. That’s nowhere near enough to compensate for an entire night of misery.
To make matters worse, we had to practically beg for extra towels after being crammed into one room. I will never set foot in this hotel again, and I will never recommend it to anyone. Don’t waste your money on this...
