Stepping into this hotel is a little like stepping into a hobbit house, the small main entrance door almost gives it a fairy tale atmosphere.||||Internally the hotel is finished to a very high standard and is scrupulously clean, the reception area is simply lovely and the receptionist and staff could not have been more helpful. I also really enjoyed the family feel, lot's of curio's and authentic furnishing have been used to grace the communal areas.||||We booked two rooms ( sadly for one night only ) but both rooms were wonderful, my husband and I took the larger double with private balcony and slightly slanted ceiling. NB: If you are tall you may bump your head, my hubby did a couple of times. But other than that the room was spacious, immaculate and the bed was very comfortable.||||Although we didn't have the opportunity to try the spa and pool facilities, we did take a peek ... looked lovely also.||||Our family were on a cycling trip and I have to say out of all the hotels that we stayed at during our cycling holiday, this hotel was the best. In terms of room size, bathroom size, quality and location I would easily award this 5*.||||Our two teenage boys were settled into what could only be described as a mini apartment, again with a private balcony, they were very happy.||||Breakfast was delicious and the perfect way to start our new days cycle, breakfast is served in a lovely room, which is open to the garden ... very tranquil.||||We were sad to leave but would heartily recommend this...
Read moreYou may find me a bit picky as the Jagdhof remains overall of good standing, but I still find a few things at least disappointing if not very disappointing for an hotel of that category. First and foremost, the person at the desk could not speak any English and showed|impatience and even a cavalier attitude as we were do your best to speak German or Italian. Along the same lines, we didn’t dare to use spa services as we were not comfortable to do so in an non English speaking environment. Second, the Isabella suite where we were staying might be an exception, but was not air conditioned and at best tentatively air cooled. Sometimes annoying when opening windows was not not an option due to nearby restaurant noises before late night. Third, our suite being under the roof where lighting devices for the garden and building was installed, it was kept unwillingly lightened till midnight. Fourth, we had only body wash and no shampoo in the bathroom. Last, we were surprised that our linens were not changed at least once for the entire 7 nights stay. On the positive side, the atmosphere is family oriented and relaxed, the staff in the restaurant and breakfast room was helpful and kind, the suite was large and comfortable and the region...
Read moreDon't get me wrong - I enjoyed our stay. However, I rate it 3 stars because of the lack of AC, good but not extensive breakfast and the slow service at the terrace-restaurant. GOOD: Location, very friendly ownership, great front office staff, friendly breakfast boss, elevator, parking OK: Breakfast buffet selection was good, just didn't offer a couple of my favorites. The room was nice, but stuck somewhere in between of modern and traditional. The amenities were sufficient, but A/C would have been nice, even though I understand how difficult it is to retrofit such historical buildings. NOT SO GOOD: The service at the terrace-restaurant was slow and not as helpful as we would have liked. They posted closing time on a Saturday is 11pm, however they were not willing to serve us another round of drinks at 10:30. Overall we felt that it was difficult to get their attention after the first order. We would have easily spent $40 more each visit it we were able to get someones attention. Overall it was worth the price we paid and I would certainly consider staying...
