We really enjoyed our stay last year at the holiday apartment and decided to come back. It's a beautiful resort located in a small town above the ligurian coast. The view is just stunning. The apartment is nice, clean and comes with a kitchen, living room, bedroom and a balcony. The only thing I can complain about the apartment is the bed which is too hard. Because it's a holiday apartment there is no room cleaning or any other services available and that's ok. If you need extra towels you can get them for 10 euros per request. The resort also comes with a public parking, reception, restaurant, pool area and a spa. The main difference between last years stay and our stay this year was the behavior of the staff, especially in the pool area. When we arrived the lifeguard (a woman) came to us to tell what the pool rules are. Some examples: You're not allowed to open or close your parasol (she decides when to open or close), you can't bring your own food or drinks even there is no bar service, kids are not allowed to dive in the pool or to bring any toy with and so on. In a summary, you are not allowed to do decide something on your own. And if you do so, you get reminded in a not very nice way. We were talking to the receptionist about this because other guests were also complaining. The reaction of the manger was to attach even more prohibition signs the next day and to install a improvised bar. Why is this a problem for me? We paid around 200 euros per night to have a relaxing time here. Instead of this we and most of the other guests were treated like in kindergarden and got blamed at least once a day. For this money you can also stay at one of the 4* hotels in the region with room service, pool service and all other amenities without caring about stupid...
Read moreEnjoyed staying at this place. There are pros and cons but overall it was a really nice week spent there. |First of all let's start with the pros. The view is breathtaking. The staff was very kind, especially Francesca at the reception. The resort has a lovely pool, a functional spa, a tennis court and a gym. There is a small forest right behind the resort where you can walk. For those with pets they are accepted. Dishwasher and washing machine a plus. The beach is nice, less crowded than the surrounding ones. It does not have a bar but you can go to the neighbouring "bagni". ||The cons. The room was not as clean as stated. Indeed, the floor was not clean and I realised it when the kids had their feet dark black after a few minutes walking barefoot in the room. The oven tray was also greasy. Our room was very small with the bedroom window with the view on the corridor. But it was comfortable with the necessary amenities for a residence. ||Going to the beach could be a hassle. The walk is doable and I also enjoyed the way up. If you're not fit it's best to take the town-hall bus that goes till dominio mare. But the bus in August can be easily full. There are very few rides to the hotel so if you miss it, your legs are the only option.||Bergeggi has a nice beach but the town does not offer much. It's a place for relaxing and quiet holidays on a hill with beautiful views. No shops nor strolls. So if you want to have a walk for an ice cream or a visit in a typical Italian summer town, you need to get your car and go to neighbouring towns like Noli that are really...
Read moreThere are facilities that should just close in the off-season and get the infrastructure back up to speed. This residence is definitely one of them.
But let's take the positive first, the lady from the reception does her job excellently, she knows how to deal with guests and for that we give the one star - everything else was so disappointing that there are no more stars.
Starting with the hotel manager R., who was massively out of tone towards us and seems extremely arrogant and unsympathetic towards guests.
The restaurant and bar were closed. Although according to their own notice reduced opening hours were planned. When asked about this, the notice was simply removed and we were offered to order take away.
For the puny spa area you have to pay extra. And this although the prices are quite high in the mid-season and the facility can not be fully used during this time.
If you book a resort & spa in this price category, you can have certain expectations. These were not fulfilled by far: The water in the lavabo did not drain (in a resort of this category and especially at the beginning of the season a no go), the shower cabin, which urgently needs to be thoroughly cleaned, is almost falling apart (flooding in the bathroom after showering guaranteed).
We have looked around the Italian Riviera for a purchase object - the Domino Mare comes after the experienced definitely out of...
