After two days travelling hard from London we arrived at the little piece of heaven that is Hotel Claudio! We asked for the same room we were given last year, when we first "experienced" Hotel Claudio and were given it. It is a 'superior room' and the bathroom shower area had been further improved. The view is nothing short of spectacular! We were greeted almost as 'old friends' and nothing is too much trouble for the warm, friendly staff. Led by Claudio himself. It is magic formula, a family owned and run business that compares well with top hotels anywhere in the world. This time we had promised ourselves supper in the restaurant (last year we had limited time so ate in the excellent 'linked' Osteria). The restaurant did not disappoint. my wife and I had a memorable meal outside on the terrace, the whole experience was entrancing! As you can tell if you have read this far, I am a fan! I have read a couple of poor reviews and honestly I was shocked, either the reviewers didn't stay at this hotel or their manner in dealing with the staff left something to be desired. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and the service was immaculate. Finally, did I mention the breakfast........superb coffee and more cakes and pastries than should be allowed. We will return, the...
Read moreWhen we arrived I stopped the motorcycle near to the entrance to let my wife off before parking somewhere level. I was not witness to it but one of the owners came out and challenged my wife in italian before being let in to reception.||||Once in we were offered two rooms one with a large bath and one with two small baths? we can only assume he meant beds as the room we chose had a shower.||||The air conditioner was noisy and placed away from where it was needed. It also took me a while to find the control panel which was on the other side of the room. ||||the man was not friendly at all and was quite aggrieved when I asked if the bar served snacks, the best he could manage was to send me to the beach cafes. these by the way are not within easy walking distance.||||The pool is clean and other staff were pleasant but the restaurant is closed on mondays. food can be had at a resort next door owned by the same family but the food was small portions and expensive. I ordered swordfish and my wife had lasagne which came without meat. between the two plates we shared one meal.||||Breakfast was good and comprised everything needed to make a sandwich for a bar snack if only the management had a bit of interest.||||All in all not a...
Read moreWe stayed in Hotel Claudio mid September and had a wonderfully relaxed time there. We used the hotel as a base to travel both west towards France and east toward Cinque Terre and to be honest could have spent the whole week there just chilling rather than driving around. Every morning we came down we heard "Cappuccino?" which was great. Continental Breakfast was good and the food selection was pretty decent. It was very quite in the area at that time of summer (which is when we prefer to go by the way) and you would be best advised to hire a car if you go early late season in order to get around. If you enjoy a jog in the evening there is a great coastal path to take in the scenario while burning off those Italian calories. The hotel is high on the hillside (with fab views) so the trip up and down to the beach will keep you fit!!.||||As a side note I left some clothing in the hotel and they very kindly sent them on to me at home which was very good of them considering.||||Will be back...
