Waste of money and definitely not a 5* hotel - potentially a 3* at a push! NOT SAFE FOR CHILDREN TO VISIT!! The room - very run down and the rooms are not what is advertised. We purchased a junior suite as we were going to have 4 people staying and wanted to allow extra space - it was a double room at best! The air con didn’t work correctly often causing moisture droplets across the ceiling even when set to a warm temp of 20. There was a lot of mould present in the bathroom, the bath did not drain correctly, and the fixtures (such as the shower door) being incorrectly placed meant the bathroom would flood. The sheets / linen are never changed, only tidied and the right amount of towels were not provided until we asked for them - there are no robes or slippers provided, and no tea/coffee machine present despite them advertising 5*. There was also no hairdryer, or iron available if required. The fridge was overstocked with overpriced drinks meaning you could not use it for your own things. The hotel - decor of the hotel was dirty and marked with broken seats/sofas, the windows are too large on high floors (large enough for an adult to fall out) with no safety features, the electrics cut regularly meaning you repeatedly got stuck in lifts. The inclusive continental breakfast is precarious in options - it is a help yourself buffet but cooked items are not present, you must ask for them and only include scrambled egg, boiled egg or omelette - that’s not a cooked breakfast, that’s just egg! There is a shuttle service to their private beach which is some distance away however they do not always take you to the correct beach so be aware you may face some discrimination on this front. The pool - there are supposedly three to choose from (there are not, there’s just 2 and then one that looks like a water feature - bizarre!) the floor around the pool leading back to the hotel is slippery and has loose tiles, you have to pay €3 per day for a pool towel despite them being ‘5*’ and the toilet for the pool is back inside the hotel on a completely different floor. There is no pool service unless you go and find someone to order drinks, and even then they charge you a service for that despite you having to find them. The staff - there were three individuals at the hotel who were nice, polite and you could see genuinely tried to help make our stay better despite the trouble that was caused but despite these three people, the rest were quite rude. Which leads me to the SERIOUS BREACH OF SAFETY that took place when a member of their staff innapropriately touched a young child in our party on two occasions (with witnesses) and refused to call the police because they ‘couldn’t afford to loose his work for 5 days’, they then physically assaulted a pregnant guest over miscommunication of the payment of their room despite them still being paid for said room, and their staff continued to serve alcohol to children in secret despite being made aware by adults that they were children on multiple occasions. The wedding - this hotel prides itself on being a wedding venue and despite the couple looking amazing and all guests pulling together to make this the best time for them, the wedding was not handled as planned and paid for, it was overpriced compared to the service received and the staff hired were rude and disrespectful throughout serving the wrong food to guests or not serving at all, and talking and laughing through the speeches. They then served up the remaining wedding cake for breakfast to other guests… RUDE! On the first night we arrived (quite late around midnight) there was a wedding already happening that continued outside by the pool until gone 2am with music and dancing etc - yet when the wedding we went for then ended at 12 and we went to continue by the pool in the same way, we were not allowed to at first - again, discrimination?!
Overall, do not spend your money here, it’s false advertising in every way and 100% do not bring your children here - they...
Read moreStarting off with the positives, the hotel itself looks amazing, cant fault that at all. The location of the hotel is ok although you are a bit removed from other sites such as pompeii etc. There is a mini supermarket 5 mins walk from the hotel which I recommend you take advantage of because the mini bar and much of the food and drinks available at the hotel are very overpriced. There is an amazing pizzeria 2 mins walk from hotel which I highly recommend for your dinner. The staff were very helpful with the exception of one member of staff who worked the bar one afternoon who clearly did not know how to make cocktails, they were un-drinkable and were returned to the bar, he made no apology and was uninterested and rude and did not take them off the tab until I complained at reception. You will share your stay here with a constant flow of weddings throughout the week, not a problem? Ok consider that when the wedding and reception goes on past 1am with booming music but the bar you are able to use closes at 8pm, there is no entertainment laid on for the guests which seems more than a little mean, this is a 5 star hotel but you definitely get the vibe that you are second class particularly if a wedding is on. The rooms are very noisy, most of the doors seem to close with a massive bang and you will hear your neighbours walking and talking all around you, this is certainly not the place to stay if your looking for peace and relaxation. Now for the 'private beach' some artistic license has been taken with that description, it's not that private at all and the no dogs policy on the beach doesn't seem to enforced or taken that seriously. Now you would think that a 5 star hotel with a 'private beach' would entitle you as a paying guest to a sun lounger, yes? No, you will need to pay 6 euros for each sun lounger and 8 euros for an umbrella Add that up over the course of the week and it soon racks up, Not a problem I can sunbathe poolside on the free sun loungers? Only if there is no wedding on, the main pool is closed off during these and you will need to go to the small pool which gets very overcrowded. I really cant in good faith recommend this hotel, I think there is better out there for your money. The hotel cant seem to decide if it's a wedding venue or a hotel and guests do not get the 5 star experience expected from this...
Read moreWe had a really disappointing experience at the Mec Paestum Hotel and would absolutely not recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing or comfortable stay, especially with a family. ||First and foremost, the hotel plays loud music with an overpowering bass line until midnight. It felt like trying to sleep inside a nightclub. We contacted reception to complain, but they were completely unhelpful and refused to do anything about it. Their dismissive attitude made it clear they have no regard for guests’ comfort or sleep.||As if that wasn’t bad enough, the bathroom in our room was in a disgusting condition. The bathtub had visible mould around the edges — a serious hygiene issue. A minor point was the Jacuzzi bath was only half functioning, a good indication of the tired feeling. We reported it, and while someone came to clean the tub, the mould was left untouched. Again, no real care or effort from hotel staff.||This is not a five-star experience - far from it, it felt more 3 star and the service was 2 star. Between the noise, the poor hygiene, and the staff’s indifference, we couldn’t wait to leave. Save yourself the frustration and stay elsewhere.||The final insult was I received a phishing scam message from the hotel on booking.com. Thankfully I had just done a phishing scam course through my work therefore I didn’t click the link. When I reported the phishing email I didn’t receive an apology but only a email warning the hotel had received a few of these. Another example of the lack of care the hotel has for its guests. ||The final insult is the prices in the restaurant, the food was average but the prices very high. Much better options can be found in 4 star hotels within the...
