We arrive here for 5 nights on the 8th September 2019 on a breakfast and evening meal rate. Unchecking in which was a bit of a problem as they only really speak Italian and German and very very little English which is not there fault as we speak very little Italian , but one Receptionist Marina does speak English very well and is so helpful. There are steps up from the road to the main Reception , it is decorated in bright orange and white . Once checked in we were taken to our room 206 which was a really nice room , bright clean and spotless linen and towels double doors lead to a small balcony seating 2 with a table and although we were above the road once the 2 lots of doors were close it wasn't very noisy , also had good air conditioning which we used at night to stay cool as daytime temps reached 29c. We were left a card with basic info on it in English. What were did not know before we came to this lovely Hotel was almost all their guests are from Germany especially in September , we were the only English couple there , but we did meet and chatted to a few of the German guests. Breakfast is outside on a huge terrace and you have plenty to choose from , if you want eggs you do need to ask , same for a Cappuccino , we did have a bit of an issue with wasps , but that's part of being outdoors. You are given the evenings menu at breakfast and you choose what you want to eat and it is ready when you go to the Restaurant in the evening which is downstairs from Reception , the Maitre d was very good as were his staff who all spoke quite good English and were very friendly , and the food was in general very good quality especially the fish course. The Hotel has an outdoor swimming pool , a hot tub which is about 35c which is a Theme water filled tub. ||Plenty of sun loungers available. You also have an indoor wellness centre which has spa treatments at an additional cost , and also more Theme water pools from 40c down to 15c. Everywhere on the Hotel site was clean very well looked after a beautiful property and an enjoyable place to stay and very relaxing. We stayed at the Hotel most days as my wife had injured her knee before we came over , but we did go to Forio which is a pretty...
Read moreDo not recommend if you have the intention to travel around the island via public transport or even go out of the hotel by foot. While the hotel itself has a beautiful lookout position, to get down to the main towns is a massive headache; you’ll spend a lot of wasted time sitting around for busses that or never come, or arrived with unacceptable delays and find yourself in an abandoned part of the island in a area called Fango.
The location of the hotel is on a street that was greatly affected by an earthquake in 2017; almost all the structure you pass on the road of the hotel have been abandoned. This means that the walk to the bus stop (about 5 minutes) is quite unpleasant and risky at points. If you decide to walk up or down to Lacco Ameno, be prepared for a sidewalk that exists maybe 10% of the way.
The hotel offers a very limited service, down to Lacco Ameno and a beach nearby, ending this service at 19:00; if you want to go out for dinner in any of the towns (highly recommended) you are likely to need to take a taxi back from either Forio or Lacco Ameno back up to the hotel (20€) as the busses, despite having scheduled times, don’t pass to bring you to up to Fango (the name of the bus stop closest to the hotel).
The hotel itself is very nice; clean, spacious rooms, a nice outdoor dining area for breakfast and a big, lovely pool with plenty of sun beds. The thermal pool is small but nice and the spa area could be spruced up a bit; decent but not so inviting.
We only opted for breakfast at the hotel as we wanted to spend our time exploring the island. Breakfast options are basic, the coffee comes from an automatic machine and therefore leaves a lot to be desired.
Staff is friendly and helpful, but they need to extend their shuttle service, other hotels in the area offer shuttle on demand until 11:30pm.
I would recommend this hotel for people who want quite and relax, those who don’t have the intention to explore the island and just want to stay only in the hotel. You will not find anything in the surrounding area to...
Read moreWhat a fabulous hotel. This is the second time we have stayed, seven years apart and we will definitely be returning. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT. |The rooms are spacious and have everything you need, fridge, safe, air con. |Breakfast is buffet and has a good assortment, the fresh ricotta is amazing and the view from the terrace is simply the best thing to start your day with. |If you have half board, highly recommended, you chose your dinner for that evening at breakfast. Dinner consists of set anti pasta of vegetables to start, choice of pasta or rice dish and then choice of meat or fish dish then fruit or cake for dessert. You can’t ask for more the food is delicious. You can also order from the Al le carte menu if you want. |The menus come in all languages so there is no issue and the staff speak lots of different languages. |Vito! Stole our heart, what a joy he is and takes you to the town or beach at set times every day and also picks you up and drops you back to the port to catch the ferry. It’s a great service and you can plan your days out around the pick up times which makes life very simple and easy and a great way to explore the island and get back to the hotel with ease and it’s a free service. |The owners are amazingly, so friendly and accommodating, it’s like staying with family. |Lacco meno is a great town, little shops and cafes and the best beach San Montano on the island. |Buses go around the island so it’s very easy to navigate, Sant Angelo, the Port, Poseidon are all places to go. |The hotel also has a free spa (treatments you pay for) and amazing pool with lots of loungers. I could stay for months and not be bored. Being slightly up on the mountain the views are amazing and you get a slight breeze which is wonderful on hot summer days. |We will be...
