Hotel Caserta Antica — Hotel in Caserta

This was my third stay at this hotel. It offers simple clean spacious marble walls & floors rooms. I use this as a base to explore the near by attractions and sites. This time we went to Naples/Pompeii, a 45 minute train trip, Capua amphitheatre & museo, & of course Regia di Caserta the Royal palace that rivals Versailles but is bigger, few tourists, less expensive & built by the same architect for the Spanish Bourbon family. |The hotel is located 15 minute drive up on the mountain over looking the modern town of Caserta. The old town of Caserta dates back to the 800’s. There is also in ruin dating even further. During our stay there was a festival happening which we only caught the end of as we were in Naples. The caution I have is that very little English is spoken so this could frustrate some. I love it, very authentic and enjoyable. Franco seen in the picture is the owner and would do whatever he could to make our stay positive. The hotel hosts a very fine restaurant and as well there are several others located in the area. The hotel was quite nice and clean with very polite personnel. Rooms of our group weren't as nice as you can see on the photos but it wasn't very important. ||As me and my boyfriend were the organizers we asked to have a room with a swimming pool view. Unfortunately we didn't receive it (we had a view to the street and a wall). ||||We have done the reservation by phone and confirmed by e-mail. As we were a group of people we have agreed other price which wasn't confirmed later in the e-mail and in the end of our stay we have been told we need to pay higher price. ||After short discussion with the owner showing him the price on booking com from the photo (from that day when the reservation has been taken) we finally paid that price. ||That is why I have left this place a little...

C'est superbe hôtel, dans un petit village perché au-dessus de Caserte.||Le propriétaire ( qui parle un peu le français ) est sympathique ( j'ai eu droit à une rose et au départ, il nous a offert une bouteille de vin blanc de la région), le personnel est attentionné mais parle juste deux langues: anglais et italien.||L'extérieur est agréable: jardin arboré et fleuri, piscine...la terrasse privative de notre chambre donnait côté piscine, panorama superbe!||Le parking est gratuit, le petit déjeuner est correct.||La chambre est très bien équipée, avec climatisation, frigo, wifi, rangements, prises électriques, miroirs. Le couchage est excellent.||La salle d'eau ( lavabo, bidet, douche) ne correspond pas à la qualité de l'hôtel. Elle n'est pas du tout fonctionnelle et pas entretenue correctement: moisi dans la douche, portes de cette douche difficilement coulissantes, pas de crochets pour accrocher la serviette mouillée, fuite dans les WC, au pommeau de douche. L'unique porte serviette ne tient pas bien au mur....||La première nuit s'est bien passée, vu l'endroit où se situe ce bel hôtel.||Mais le début des trois autres nuits a été très mouvementé. L'hôtel organise très souvent des fêtes privées . Nous n'avons pas été prévenus de l'existence de ces fêtes , qui sont très bruyantes. Les deux premières se sont terminées vers 23h30, la dernière se passant à l'intérieur, j'ai réussi à m'endormir...mais soudain, à minuit, pétarade étourdissante...feu d'artifice tiré à l'extérieur du jardin mais pas loin du tout de la propriété. ||Le propriétaire s'est excusé pour la gène occasionnée mais je ne recommanderai pas cet hôtel à des personnes comme nous, qui , après une bonne journée de visites, ont besoin d'une nuit calme!!!||De plus, cet hôtel est éloigné de la ville de Caserte. Il faut plus de 10 minutes en voiture, avec une route de montagne très abîmée , pour rejoindre la ville. Le paysage est superbe, c'est vrai,mais les sauts avec la voiture...
