Hotel Valacia is the place for great holidays in Pozza di Fassa. At first by its location. Just very convenient for the ski slopes: you just cross the road from the hotel parking, and you are on the last 100 meters of a slope (from the top 5 km red slope đ) which takes you to the main lift to Pozza and Val di Fassa ski areas, and obviously get you back to your hotel with a nice long run. No car needed during your stay. See my comments at the end of this review for Sellaronda. Hotel Valacia offers everything you need to relax. At the end of the village, the area is quieter. 50 meters to a convenient store, and 5min walk to the village centre. The hotel has a car parking, ski heated room (direct access from the parking so very convenient, access with a code), and small but nice spa with outdoor jacuzzi, and a fitness room. Very comfortable rooms. We had 3 rooms in the new part of hotel. We saw the old part as well. Rooms seems spacious too, but just with older furniture and style (shown in photos). The breakfast and dinner are just great. Each day we had to make our next day dinner choice from 4 starters, 4 main dishes and 4 deserts. The Cook is definitely a great Chef. What a surprise to have this level of quality and choices. We understood that the owners are 2 brothers. One takes care of the reception /bar , very friendly and kind, ready to help despite of non-fluent English. And the other is the great Chef! Thatâs why we felt like home, thanks to this family run business. The cherry on the cake is the staff: just great and smart people, always smiling, always willing to help and to make your time there at its best. Great people! And they are the heart of this hotel success story. Thanks to Claudia and Claudio đđ . Saturday evening, we were welcome at the dinner with a good cocktail. After dinners, you can enjoy the bar , where several times in the week, there was one Italian playing piano and singing.
For sure we will do everything to come back.
Sellaronda: From the main lift to Pozza and Val di Fassa ski areas, , you can as well make the Sellaronda tour. Just make sure to have enough time back to Pozza ski area. Because from Col dei Rossi on the Sellaronda tour, you can expect queuing on the main lift to reach Alba and be able to go back in the Pozza ski area. And if you are not there before 15h30, you will have to get a ski bus back to Pozza, the bus stop is opposite of the hotel. The bus trip is about 20Km and 45min. We didnât know about that, and we finish with the ski bus back at 19h at the hotel. A long day with no time to enjoy a break. So, for Sellaronda, donât under- estimate the time from Pozza, and leave early morning. Expect a lot of people. And no time for long break. During the Sellaronda day we did 52km skiing, 45min bus and a lot of stress. Other days, staying in the Pozza ski area, we had an average of 40km skiing, time to enjoy breaks, and no stressâŠ. That should be the way to enjoy...
Read moreWe were in this hotel with my family from 10.01.-17.01.2015. The hotel is a little bit out of the town, but very close (walking distance). The hotel is nice. There are restaurant, bar with life music once a week, TV room, and a sitting area. Our room was spacious (it was 4 beds room, and we needed only 3 beds). The beds and pilows were comfortable and nice. The bath was renovated, but no shower gel. Something was wrong with the safe deposit box. We told the menager, but they didn't fix it until we left. There was a little fridge in the room, but enough to put water or juice. Our friend's room, was much smaller, and they told us that it was very cold. In all hotel it was colder that we experienced in other hotels. The ski slopes from the ski centrum Vall di Fassa passed very close to the hotel (only few steps away). There was a room for the skiboots, but I have to say that altough it seemed like the boots were heated, they were cold and a little wet incide (probably because they were not well heated). They turned off the heat at about 21.00 o'clock. Maybe it is too early.||About the food, I have to say that food was average. For breakfast there was no fresh vegetables, and friuts only if you ask (and they would give us 1 apple and 2 kiv-1 piece for each of us). The buffet for dinner wasthe same every night. The appetizers were several times the same (which hasn't happened until now). I have been in Italy 5-6 times, and this is the first time that the pasta were not alwayes ok. We usually adore pasta in Italy. The mean dishes and the deserts were nice.|| It was nice to have free wifi in alll hotel, and in the rooms too.||The staf were rough, they never smile and never say good morning, or so... ||We never met the owners of the hotel, which I find very strange. Usually they want to meet you and ask you if you like the hotel, and what...
