My wife and I booked the Michelangelo room for a romantic getaway. The room was unavailable unfortunately due to the previous tenant abusing it. ||Barbara kindly upgraded us to the Cella di Girolamo Savonarola. We had a few small issues at first (small ants on the wall and no transition from the shower to the bathroom which caused the shower to flood the bathroom and for us to use our towels to mop it up) which were taken care of immediately by the wonderful staff. ||The property is an ancient castle so I understand there may be some issues. 😉||I can't say enough about the wonderful staff at the hotel. Barbara is very kind and attentive. She made sure that we were taken VERY well care of. ||The dinner was simply AMAZING. Mariah (spelling is correct I hope) was the most sweet and knowledgeable person we'd met this trip as a whole. She is a masterful cook and all around nice person. She made sure we wanted for nothing and let us know all the history of the castle. She served us a 5 course dinner that left us so full we could barely function ( this is a good thing) all the while regaling us with tales of Florence and her life there. ||The breakfast was delightful. No menu was offered. We were asked the night before what we'd like as if there was no limit to our request. ||In the morning Barbara arranged a taxi for us to get back into the city center. ||All in all the stay was beautiful. The only reason I didn't go 5 star was the fact that we were not informed that the room we reserved was not available until...
Read moreRomantic charming sweet B&B||||We spent a very romantic stay at the Castello, that doesn’t have any surprise ghosts in it’s cellar. Charming staff, and just the right kind of rough charming atmosphere from the outside, with a splendid view from it’s delightful romantic rooms. ||||For one the Castello borders on the southern edge of Florence and lies with view that looks directly towards the the center of Florence. From the rooms that where once the domain of the the local monks, the newly renovated rooms have a rustic and warm atmosphere. As mentioned before, no ghosts here, but more a feeling of quiet. After a day of shopping and lots of footwork, the quiet of this Castello is a real welcome.||||We opted for the romantic dinner at the Castello and enjoyed the view from our table, an almost private dinner for two, served with lots of charm and friendly staff. ||||The only drawback if you can call it that, is your living in a castel, and that means you have to walk a few narrow stairs. But is that a drawback? ||||||The staff gave us a few very good tips for our evening dinner trips, and we can only say it was a very heart warming service from the very moment the gates opened up to the castel driveway.||||Thank you Barbara and team.||||And on a final note, the view from the tower is a real tip! I’m sure that a few love birds have made it to the top, and enjoyed the view in...
Read moreWe booked the room + breakfast for 1 night through a Smartbox gift (Google privacy policy does not allow to add the screenshot with the description of the hotel we booked). The room was fair, nothing special. It had a jacuzzi and this was very good. We expected to have dinner in the hotel and have some drink, resting after the tours around the beautiful Firenze. The day before, it was not possible to contact by phone neither whatsapp using the numbers which are in the website. Then, they called me but I did not realise. We arrived at the hotel about 17h and the girl shown us our room and said that we could contact by whatsapp if we need something because there was no staff in the "office". What a surprise when we tried to contact them by 2 whatsapp numbers (website and one indicated on the poster in the room) in order to have some drink and ask for the dinner, and there was no answer. After that, we called them and she explain that there was no service at all, no drinks neither dinner. Into the bargain, there were some spiders (it could be normal in an old castle) and so many mosquitoes there, which was so awful. I am so soory, but as our experience, we do not recommend this placer to stay, only the views from the...
