Relais Villa Bianca — Hotel in Gambassi Terme

I stayed here after my first walk from san miniato on the via francigena.||The property itself is gorgeous as well as the rooms, super nice, no complaints around that or the breakfast.||EXTREMELY DISSAPOINTED IN THE SERVICE||1) They list reception hours as 4-7 pm and 7-10 am , I did not see one receptionist the entire time. There was a wedding party but that is no excuse to just ignore the rest of your guests|2) when i arrived after 7 hours of walking, my bag was sitting outside in the rain with a key to let myself into the property. Again, not acceptable. This was during service hours and even though there was a wedding you should hire more staff|3) I had an included dinner , supposed to be in the resto for an authentic Tuscan experience, they sent me to a pizzarea off property. And i had to call to figure out where i would be going to dinner , they did not provide that info upon check in as there was no check in .|4) the next morning again there was no one at reception and I just had to leave my bag and hope it made it.||Again, the property + rooms were nice but if I wanted to stay in an appartment I would book Air B and B, you need to provide the service you advertise||Part of staying in a hotel is , you know, having a receptionist||I have never...

We booked 7 rooms for 6 May 2018 and paid €250 deposit. Due to flight changes we have to change the date to 7th May and we let the hotel know last week (36 days before arrival). We checked for a changes/cancellation policy but there is nothing on their website or in the original confirmation The hotel is unable to give us rooms on 7th May.||They are now threatening to charge us the full amount. We checked the Tourism Board for advice and found this clause: The "Rules On Deposit (Caparra)||According to Italian Civil Law and the regulations of IHA (International Hotel Association) and FIAVET (International Federation of Travel Agents), a hotel booking is considered valid as soon as a deposit is paid. IHA and FIAVET regulations further state that a deposit will be refunded if the reservation is cancelled at least 14 days in advance and 30 days in advance during the high season"||Can they keep our deposit and demand a further payment or are we entitled...

Walking the Via Francigena with friends. The hotel is a couple of kilometres off the trail. The hotel is geared towards middle-aged women in its decor--which didn't fit our group. The rooms are clean, spacious and well furnished, with the rooms theme painted instead of numbers. (Mine was the butterfly room.) I found the decor creepy, but I'm a guy. It felt like the sort of place to bring my mother. Or grandmother. ||The room was too hot because there was no way to turn off the heat. Opening the window invited lots of mid-October mosquitoes. It was hard to sleep. ||Wine was expensive with no choice apart from red or white. ||I'm looking forward to getting back on the walking trail to the next town.
