Hotel La Calabrese — Hotel in Isola di Capo Rizzuto

We chose this hotel for a 2 day break out of the main tourist season. The hotel is very conveniently situated and although limited parking is available in the hotel car park there is no restriction on street parking.|Although the furnishings are dated, for me the mattress on the bed was just the most comfortable I'd had experienced during our tour of the area. Our room was spotlessly clean and had a good size tv and WiFi. We had no complaints about the breakfast, there was a sufficient amount of variety of cold meat cheese jams fruit etc.||I was particularly grateful to the hosts who went beyond the call of duty in helping to reunite me with my mobile phone I'd left in a restaurant. I don't speak Italian sufficiently well, the restaurant was closed, it was very late at night, but nonetheless they made numerous phone calls and managed to track it down and bring it to our room.||Very competitively priced as well especially as we just turned up and did not...

Well situated within 5 min. walking distance of the castle and sea. Small but clean room and bathroom, the furniture clearly is not recent. In general the personnel was friendly. But our disappointment lay in the restaurant and breakfast: the evening menu was not expensive, but also not very tasty or sophisticated, and the service below average. The worst was yet to come: breakfast next morning consisted of industrial toast and only a selection of individual packs of jams and Nutella. No bread, only a few sweet croissants. To our surprise some other gasts were served with bacon and eggs, we still don’t know why.||I suspect the owners were on leave, and the hotel was run by the children and the restaurant by their grandfather. Excellent position to visit Le Castella, Capo Rizzuto and Capo Colonna. Walking distance to the Castle of Le Castella through the very nice pedestrian walk full of shops and bars. Very kind guests. Availability of chairs and umbrellas to enjoy the wonderful sea, full of fantastic and colored fish.
