B&B Mare e Monti — Hotel in La Spezia

We had been driving from Monteriggioni and made a few stops along the way so we did not arrive in La Spezia until about 9pm. We didn't have internet or phone access so we used the GPS to locate a B&B in the area and the first one we tried was this one. The lady was very nice even though we went knocking on her door at about 9:30pm. The room we stayed in was just slightly creepy only because I have this crazy thing where porcelain dolls scare me. Above the bed on a shelf she had some dolls lined up. The room was a little dated but comfortable and we had free WiFi. In the morning we went to the kitchen area to eat breakfast which consisted of some juice, yogurt, coffee, and pastries that were wrapped up individually. Everything was decent until we went out to the terrace. It was soooooo pretty! You could see the sea from her terrace and mountains dotted with houses. Even though it was slightly creepy because of the dolls, the hospitality shown by the owner, the price, and the view out by the terrace would allow me to overcome my fear and possibly stay there the next time. La padrona è stata molto cortese, ci ha indicato ristoranti e scorciatoie per andare alle cinque terre in comodità ed è stata molto cordiale. Il posto è in collina, a pochi minuti dal centro di La Spezia, quindi ottimo per qualsiasi spostamento. La casa è grande ma un po' trasandata, la colazione è scarsa, salvata solo dalla terrazza che è molto grande e bella. Però è tutto molto spartano e approssimativo, la camera è arredata male e non molto pulita, il bagno è assurdo, piccolo, con la tendina della doccia che arriva solo a 3/4 di doccia quindi ogni volta ti lavi tu e anche il bagno, con un buco dietro la doccia in cui è infilata una lavatrice e la porta del bagno che non si chiude (usavo la borsa delle scarpe per tenerla chiusa, che mi si è inondata di acqua non appena sono entrata in doccia). Con un po' di impegno in più sarebbe un posto più gradevole perchè la casa è bella ed è fuori dal casino della città, però mi sento di consigliarlo solo a chi è di "bocca buona" e non ha...

Die Gastgeberin Paola ist sehr, sehr nett, herzlich und hilfsbereit. Das Frühstück auf der herrlichen Terrasse mit tollen Ausblick war gut. Für die cinque Terre ein sehr guter Ausgangspunkt, wenn man mit dem Auto unterwegs ist.

Leider können wir die Angaben unserer Vorredner nicht zustimmen. Das Bad war so klein, dass man, wenn man auf der Toilette saß nicht einmal die Schiebetür schließen konnte. Die Dusche schimmelte, rostete und beherbergte Schamhaare anderer Gäste Auch die Rezension mit dem tollen Ausblick aus dem Fenster können wir nicht nachvollziehen. Vielleicht handelt es sich dabei um das andere Zimmer. Das Bett quitschte und durch die Matratze spürte man jede einzelne Sprungfeder.

Wenn man nur zum Schlafen im Zimmer ist, kann man Mare e Monti durchaus buchen. Plant man längere Aufenthalte würde ich es...
