My husband and I recently spent three nights at La Locanda Del Borgo. I was sold on this property because of the dramatic photos of the castle, the restaurant next door, the bottle shop across the way, and the prospect of free parking. Overall, this lodging delivered on its promises, although parking was initially challenging. We arrived on a Sunday, and there were a lot of day trippers there.||||The room we rented was very small, but it was very clean and had most everything we needed. The only thing I didn't like was that the shutters to the window were closed and couldn't be opened. Breakfast was simple, but adequate, with delicious filled cornettos. I didn't need to be eating those, but it sure was a pleasure!||||We loved the wines offered at the wine and cheese shop, which appeared to be connected to the B&B. We ate there two of the three nights we stayed at the B&B, then had a fantastic pizza from the pizzeria at the little plaza near the hill to the castle. ||||All in all, it was a unique place to stay with a friendly staff. Read moreRather than staying in Parma city, this little place on top of Torrechiara just next to the 15th century castle is a great alternative. The rooms have obviously been recently renovated, with a good bed and a hot, powerful shower. Our double room was a little small but adequate. Breakfast was the usual Italian style continental one with cold cuts, cheese, breads and fruit. |The owner does not speak much English and we don’t speak Italian but there was no problems knowing what to do. He owns a little shop across the street that sells salamis and cheese so very handy for snacks. There is a great taverna just next door so dinner is also not an issue ( see my other post). Langhirano is the town when there is the largest concentration of Parma ham factories and is just a 10 minute drive away. Beautiful countryside...

We are a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children) and got a large room on the top floor. The room was well appointed with a bright and clean washroom, air conditioning and an amazing view out the window. Breakfast, was healthy and plentiful. Communication with the host was easy and prompt.
This was the perfect location for touring the local Parma agri/foodie spots. We visited the ham factory at Conti, did the cheese tour at Saliceto and had dinner at Ristorante Simone Vino-Cibo-Ricerca. We originally wanted to dine at Ristorante Taverna del Castello but it was closed on the...
