Il Mulino di Torrechiara comes as a rare and welcome exception: here great food is served with manners and care. The appetizer of fried dough (gnocco fritto) and Parma ham is just delicious, try it with some lambrusco (dry sparkling red wine) or their vino della casa, which is basically the same thing. A year ago today we visited Torrechiara and dined here. After our almost two weeks of touring various locations and sites, this is the place I still dream of returning to. Tortas were so amazing, I literally will return just for these delectable treats. The waitstaff couldn't be more accommodating and the food was out of this world! Questo ristorante tipico si trova proprio all'inizio della salita per arrivare al castello di Torrechiara. Vi è un ampio parcheggio vicino. Il locale ha anche un bel dehor esterno molto gradevole nel periodo estivo. Vi troverete in un ristorante che sembra rimasto ad un' altra epoca, davvero lontano dalle gastronomie estetiche (a volte inutili) oggi tanto in voga. Ma tuttavia c'è qualcosa che pare anche troppo poco curato rispetto alle potenzialità del locale, a cominciare dal menù. Un foglio semplice come una fotocopia, riporta pochi piatti della tradizione preparati senza troppa attenzione all'impiattamento e alla decorazione. Non è una cucina memorabile ma nemmeno andrete via scontenti. I prodotti utilizzati sono di qualità media, non gourmet. Buona la torta fritta fatta al momento con un impasto tenace e asciutto. La malvasia della casa è un vino particolare poco frizzante dai sapori che ricordano quelli del vino del contadino di una volta. Le cameriere sono state gentili e disponibili, ci hanno fatto sentire davvero a nostro agio. Prezzi nella norma. Locale consigliato per una serata informale con la famiglia.

Con qualche piccola cura e un pizzico di creatività in più potrebbe essere davvero un locale in cui ritornare con grande piacere.
