After a non-stop 1300 km drive what a relief to arrive at the Guest House Residence and be warmly welcomed: no hassle with paperwork, no need to carry the bags to the room, good advice where to park the car safely, all was great from the first minute. Later on, we appreciated the time spent to describe Messina landmarks, to suggest good value restaurants, to offer a one-hour parking slip. To end on service, we had forgotten a sweater in the room on departure. Time to figure it out just before the highway to Taormina and go back to the hotel, the sweater was already at the reception and they were dialing to call us.||Our room was modern, comfortable and clean in beige hues with brown furniture. It included (for extended stay) a kitchenette with sink, fridge, hotplates ,..., individual a/c which we didn't need, WiFi, flat TV with so many Italian channels that we gave up before reaching an English one (a list would be useful). Bathroom had modern fixtures and basic amenities. In spite of double glazed windows there was still a light noise from the busy Europa avenue (to be fair our room was near the corner). There was a small balcony but we will give a bad mark to the broken chair in it.||Breakfast was simple but good with ham, cheese, pastries and, again, with the utmost willingness to satisfy our requests.||An excellent place of good value to stay within walking distance...

The room was very large but disappointingly we had to ask for more towels - our double room only had one towel! Sadly we asked for towels before we went out for the afternoon and yet we had to ask again when we got back as they still hasn’t appeared. We also had no hot water for a shower. A quick visit to reception solved the issue the first evening we thought only to find we had to do exactly the same the next morning as the shower was totally cold. Breakfast was very generous in the morning. From the reviews it looks like we might have been unlucky with our visit but sadly we...
Read moreEnding our tour of Sicily we needed a place to stay in Messina before heading to the mainland.||Once again, thanks to Trip Advisor, we found the Guest House. Street parking was plentiful and our reception warm and welcoming. As others have said, the rooms are modern and fairly spacious. All was very clean (bathroom included!). The room overlooked the street but road noise was not a problem as the dual pane windows blocked that out. Our only issue was the walls between the rooms were not exactly soundproof and you could hear conversations and movement in the adjacent rooms. Breakfast was a generous spread of offerings including cereal. Staff was very accommodating. If you're in Messina to catch the ferry, it's just minutes away. All in all...
