We stayed a week at Hotel Lido degli Spagnoli and everything was fantastic. The staff was extremely professional and friendly and attentive to our needs. Dario and Martina in the bar/restaurant were just incredible and Ana in the spa was excellent. Our large room faced the sea with an ample balcony and comfortable bed. The breakfast buffet is extensive…eggs, bacon, toast, local pastries, yogurt, tea, coffee, juices…and there is lunch service to the pool, and drink service to the pool all day. The desk clerks responded to all of our requests promptly. The pool area is beautiful and overlooks the sea, and the sandy public beach is about a 100m walk down the street and is in a lovely protected cove. There is a walking path close to the hotel for bikes and pedestrians that leads to a hilltop with some ruins. The hotel grounds are well kept with lots of grass areas for children and pets to run. September 1-8 was not crowded at all anywhere. We were able to book last minute boat tours and horseback riding and the weather was still perfect. The local communities are filled with delicious food and friendly people. Highly recommend!! We WILL come back! Ten out of...
Read moreDon't expect The Ritz - this hotel is a little old fashioned in its decoration (mid-90s?) and the rooms are more basic than you might expect for 4* with smallish bathroom with shower perhaps not suitable for the larger person or someone with mobility issues. However the sea view rooms look out onto the swimming pool and Mediterranean, the pool itself is what you are paying for in my opinion (for around €130 a night its a bargain) and the rooms are kept spotlessly clean, as is the rest of the hotel. You do need your own pool/beach towel or else must pay to hire one. And if you like fancy soaps in the bathroom bring your own. Breakfast has a selection of fruits, cereals, and cooked fare and is very good. Staff in all areas of the hotel are very attentive and better than almost any other 4* that I've stayed at. There's also plenty of free parking. Matteo is the manager with a good command of English.||The hotel is situated on the cliff tops over looking the Mediterranean about 15 minutes walk to the centre of Portoscuso, which is a lovely town with many bars and restaurants. This is genuine Italy, as opposed to a tourist...
Read moreThe hotel has a lot of untapped potential due to its stunning location and impressive swimming pool area. While it may have been a decent four-star establishment in the past, it is evident that some necessary refurbishments and upgrades are now required.
The breakfast fell short of expectations, with the agrumi cake being disappointingly dry. The coffee from the automatic machine proved to be bitter, and it would have been preferable for the coffee to be expertly crafted by a barista behind the counter.
The most unpleasant aspect of our stay was the room. Throughout the night, we were unable to sleep due to the constant noise emanating from the neighboring room, where a baby was crying incessantly. Despite bringing this issue to the attention of the staff, we were informed that nothing could be done about it. Consequently, the quality of sleep experienced did not align with the supposed four-star rating. It is imperative that soundproofing measures be implemented...
