My daughter andI had an over the top holiday at Hotel Belvedere. The moment we arrived we were greeted warmly. To put a face to the names who had been so pleasant & helpful over the phone when we called from Canada was a welcome and grounding experience: most other hotel staff are detached over the phone & give perfunctory answers. Our visit and experiences continued in this superlative way. Excellent individual fittings of our bikes were done with obvious knowledge of the importance of comfort for the cyclist: clearly these staff were cyclists themselves, which is a reassuring fact when one rents a bike in a different country. The multiple choices for daily guided rides were varied and led by personable, knowledgeable & attentive leaders. For out-of-country cyclists, these attributes are crucial to both safety and enjoyment. What I learned about local and Italian history & culture was amazing; I could never learn this from staying at any hotel, renting any bike and exploring on my own. My daughter and I were each able to challenge our own fitness level with like minded friendly people. The views, the biking routes and the feeling of group commradory were memorable. with outstanding food offered at the daily smorgasbords. The food at The Belvedere was a culinary dream, also an over the top experience. Words are limited when describing such top quality food in both taste and presentation: it must be experienced. A delightful culinary and visual experience. Allergies were addressed in a professional manner; dining room staff mingled unobtrusively, yet were there to attend to needs, another attribute of a high quality hotel. Both hotel & Dining Room decor was stunningly creative and varied achieving a welcoming ambience. The staff, the ‘personna’ of the Belvedere Hotel, can not be more highly spoken of along with Marina, the owner. Interacting with so many people is truly a calling of the heart AND soul: the skills can not just be taught; it must intuitive and real. This amazing lady and her competent staff are what set The Belvedere apart from other hotels. There is a family atmosphere at The Belvedere Hotel driven by Marina’s intuitive talents, ideas and standards. She creates unique ‘family’ experiences. Guests sense this. They respond and this creates an experience of belonging and adventure. A winning combination. The location is perfect for exploring by foot or for sitting and relaxing or partaking in the spa. It honestly has something for everyone and is worthy to be spoken of in superlatives. A most unique biking hotel for families or adults. In my experience, it is known by its name alone.
The Belvedere Hotel truly needs to be experienced. I...
Read moreI just finished a week at the Hotel Belvedere in Riccione and I can't say enough great things about the experience... but I'll try.
First, it's like no hotel experience I've ever had. Marina and the team (Julia, Domitilla, Nicholas, etc) treated me like a treasured friend; investing the time, patience and care to make sure I was comfortable, relaxed and enjoying myself.
Second, the food was amazing. It blew my expectations out of the water. Served buffet-style, the courses were orchestrated thoughtfully and the presentation was artful and balanced. The quality was exquisite and they catered to my dietary preferences with ease.
Third, the riding was terrific. I arrived with a bit of jet lag so I took it easy the first day with the Panorama ride before joining the Exploro ride and then finally the Road Tour rides on the following days. The guides (Matteo, Danilo, Marco, Mario Renzo) are friendly, engaging and endlessly knowledgeable about the region and terrain. Every day, there were at least three ride options based on how much of a challenge the guests were up for. The ride to San Leo (led by Matteo) is easily one of the best rides of my life. Beyond just leading our groups, the guides really looked out for us, selecting routes with fewer cars, explaining the rules of the road, stopping at breath-taking landmarks, alerting us to road damage and obstacles, managing speed on descents and, when needed, controlling traffic. I couldn't have felt safer.
Fourth, the other guests. I don't know if I lucked out but literally every single other guest I met during my week there was terrific, friendly and excited to be there.
In summary, Marina has built a very special experience at the Hotel Belvedere and I feel tremendously lucky to have visited. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves road cycling, fun and authentic Italian hospitality....
Read moreIt was our first trip to hotel Belvedere and I can see why most guests were returning travellers. Our experience both as a cycling couple and a family with small children was absolutely amazing and hands down the best vacation we’ve had together.
The hospitality of the hotel can’t be beat - the owner Marina pours her heart and soul into ensuring guests feel at home (and literally inviting them to her villa for a lunch event). The staff ensured we had appropriate accommodation for the 4 of us, a nanny for my 1 year old and kids club for my older child. She had so much fun she still talks about Lorenzo and the Taylor Swift pool parties (kids club was all girls that week so it was a “custom experience”).
The cycling was fantastic. We loved getting to know the guides and having plenty of options for distance and difficulty. Each outing felt like a cultural experience, with trips to castles (on one day 5!), San Marino, church visits (one guide show is a secret crypt) and visits to a farm for wine tastings. It was spectacular and biking there was complex so I really appreciated the guides.
Food at the hotel was unbeatable, we had the largest selection of meals, snacks, drinks, special foods etc. We were never bored with the menu and almost never bought any food outside of the hotel. The rooms were perfect, we had an ocean view, a balcony and a king sized bed, and importantly, killer AC. We’d definitely go back in a heartbeat. Thanks again...
