*edit, the beds were uncomfortable as well & we were not provided with any sheets the garden and park grounds are beautiful, in that regard I give it a 5. but other elements felt very off, or not in alignment with how they present. upon booking a dog friendly stay with images of lush greenery all around, I was not expecting to be told that there were essentially no areas at all for the dogs to be walked outside. I understand that the fine print says dogs are not allowed in the gardens, the pool, or the restaurant, but without knowing the property, I was not anticipating that it meant the only place to walk them would be the front parking lot. had we realized this, we would have looked for something better suited for us and them. the restaurant experience was also lacking. I was anticipating a fine dining restaurant and not prefixed time slotted meals available. that's okay but I felt the food and the customer service with it were very alienating. some of the meal options were mediocre at best, and making requests often felt awkward and tense. we had assigned tables for seating, and didn't realize that. so when we asked to sit by the window the reaction was very uncomfortable. like it was unheard of to ask such a thing. in the morning for breakfast I was asked if I wanted eggs but not presented with a menu. so I did not know what i was able to order. and when I had questions about the eggs it seemed like I was crazy for not understanding the way things were done, but we had no reason to know what to anticipate. I feel like the hotel has a very, "we have to do whats best for the guests and not veer from very specific structures" vibe in such a way that somehow completely overlooks the actual experience of the guest in real time. as far as our room went, I wish the bed was in the room nearer to the window, as opposed to the couch area instead. as it was very hot out, this would have been better for airflow for sleeping in the heat of the night. and there was no way to watch tv while in bed either, as that was in the other room as well. these are more minor but...
Read moreVisited this amazing hotel in September of 2024 with my best friend. Great location in Castelrotto near several important towns in the Dolomites and the famous Alpe di Siusi.
Premises are kept spotless. Hotel is very spacious and beautifully decorated throughout. Parking on site is free.
Rooms: Very spacious and beautiful. Beds are comfortable, bathroom is huge, there is ample closet space, and our room also had a garden terrace with a stunning view of the Alpe di Siusi. This hotel does NOT have A/C!! The days were a little warm but at night it was cool. You can leave the terrace door slightly open, but beware of the Calabrone which are attracted to bright light. Only mentioning it because there are people that do not feel comfortable with bugs. If this is an issue, I recommend asking for a fan ahead of time for your stay. We requested one on site and unfortunately there were none available.
Restaurant: My friend and I opted for the half board option and it was the best decision. Breakfast was fantastic, although we were not made aware until our last morning that we could get eggs/omelette made to order in the kitchen. We were a little sad to have missed out on this opportunity! Dinner is a set menu but you are given two selections to pick from and we were never disappointed with any of our choices.
Staff: Staff was polite and welcoming. Carlos and Irene in the restaurant were wonderful.
Spa: Only used the co-ed indoor pool and that was nice as the outdoor pool was way too chilly to actually enjoy it. Did not get any services at the spa but it did look beautiful. I believe sauna and steam rooms are in Finnish style, which means you can only go inside with a bathrobe.
In conclusion, we had a great stay and would come back next time we are in...
Read moreFamily run for several generations, Mirabell has a stunning location with a breath taking view of the mountains. We stayed for 7 nights. Compliments to the housekeeping and gardening staff - our room was very clean & the bedding charmingly arranged each day (see photos). The grounds and outdoor pool area are very well maintained. We enjoyed seeing the family's laying chickens and vegetable garden, all put to good use in the kitchen. Providing towelling robes and bag for swimsuits etc. was appreciated. ||However, there is some room for improvement for a hotel of this rate. The 'hot' tub was far from hot, in fact it was unpleasantly tepid. Tea & coffee making facilities should be provided in rooms as should a larger TV screen. The food was disappointing. I have eaten all over Italy and never before had a 'bad' meal but I sadly had several at Mirabell. The sauces at dinner were too salty and repetitive, the scrambled & fried eggs at breakfast were also too salty and the desserts simply not up to standard. Had I not been paying for half board I would not have chosen to eat in the restaurant. The bread served at breakfast was good as was the coffee.||Overall a good stay in a beautiful location but some room for...
