I really struggle to understand the good reviews this hotel receives. The only positive thing I have to say is that the room we chose was comfortable and clean. Location was very disappointing, far from Siena centre (12-15 min drive to Siena), but also not ‘countryside’ or secluded. The B&B is situated in the same complex as a block of appartments, and most of your view is blocked by surrounding appartments. The hotel is unattended most of the day, so if you have any questions or issues, there is no one to raise your issues with. The owner was away and a friend was hosting at the time of our stay and she was unable to give us any restaurant recommendations etc. |The most disappointing thing, however, was the breakfast. We chose this B&B as we were hoping to have fresh, homemade breakfast. I am not usually one to complain but the food was truly stale. The cakes were rock solid. The croissants were charcoal burnt on the bottoms and there are not savoury options at all. Only a few types of stale cake and packet biscuits. The host had promised us eggs but when we arrived she said that they were unable to provide us with eggs as the chef was away so they could do no cooking - which explains the recycled cakes. We thought the breakfast would be great because the photos online looked fabulous. |Overall my husband and I were...
Read moreWe wanted one night outside of the city but still close and the Country Lodge had two rooms available.||||Christina was a great hostess, arranged an oilive oil tasting for us, baked a great lemon cake for breakfast and was all around fabulous. She also gave us a great recommendation for dinner in Vagliaglia and also called and made us a reservation at La Taverna Di Vagliaglia ( Separate review to follow).||||There is plenty of parking just outside the gate but on their private entry drive.||||The attached pictures are of the front of the lodge, one of our two deluxe rooms ( both on the second floor of the north part of the building and both very comfortable with private baths- with a common area downstairs with couch, chess set, and desk), and one of the breakfast room with some of the breakfast foods out for us ( also where Christina had an olive oil tasting for us - her husband apparently works making olive oil).||||Wish we could have stayed longer and explored more north and west of Siena country-side. But we had a cheese making tour lined up in Pienza the morning of 12/31/18 and it was about a 1 hour 20 minute drive away, then on to Rome to fly home.||||This would be a great place to "camp out" for an extended...
Read moreHigh standard B&B in the suburbs, very convenient to me as located at 500m from my temporary workplace. You can easily find the place using Google Map. There is a large place in front of the buldings where to park your car safe from the road. I stayed 10 days there and will be back soon. Cristina manage the place with the help of several great people. Enrique welcome you every morning with a large smile and excellent breakfast including fresh bread, cheese, ham and sweet. He tries his best to make your days taking a good start. Ceric helps with the garden and another young student is welcoming you in PM until ~7Pm for registration. All those will make all their best to accomodate your needs. I informed them ahead I would arrive by 10pm and I got a plate and a glass of vino santo at my arrival arranged by Cristina. There is a Coop and a Pizzeria at 300m. I got the largest room with 3...
