Stayed 1 night in May 2014 as part of a wider 51 day trip through parts of Europe. Paid €60 pn for a double room with double bed. Room was immediately to left of the little gate upon entry off the courtyard. Rate did not include breakfast. ||||Room had windows but no balcony.||||We considered it was decent value for the price paid. Barbara, the owner, was very friendly, spoke enough English that we could communicate easily enough and stayed up late to accommodate our delayed flight (which was really appreciated). ||||Whilst the bedroom itself looked a little basic on first arrival it grew on us immediately as it had everything we needed, was very clean & the bathroom was extremely modern, having been totally renovated over the previous year. ||||Room had: Heating, Fridge, Desk & Chair, Mirrors, Wardrobe, TV, Kettle with teabags but no coffee, milk or sugar.||||Bathroom was private. Of large size. Toiletries provided were soaps & shampoo,. Hairdryer provided. Large modern shower head in large shower base with hot water and good water pressure. Shower was on own base and had a curtain against one wall (other 3 tiled). ||||Parking nearby on street if lucky enough to find a park, which we did but Barbara then insisted she move her car to allow us to park directly out front (much appreciated). ||||Wi Fi: free with average, consistent speed: ||||Only 5 mins walk to the lake and approx 15 mins to 20 mins walk at most to ferry departure point and central part of the older pedestrian part of Stresa. The walk up hill is actually not an overly sharp slope and graduates quite nicely for walking up and down.||||Overall, we would give this 3.5 - 4/5 stars. We would happily stay again, especially if we had our own vehicle. Without our own vehicle we would also be okay to look for somewhere right in the old part of Stresa (our friends were at Stresa Residence and didn't have the car available until we arrived and they LOVED the convenience and character of being...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed at this guesthouse during our Italy trip this July. The room was big enough for a queen size bed and some space for a baby crib. We didn't stay in our room much except as we were too busy during the day visiting the different islands on the Lake. So it didn't matter much. There was a fan in the room and no air conditioning. The owners are a husband and wife team. They are not always around for you to ask questions as they have their own separate jobs. When we got there, they weren't around but we saw a note outside of our room so we just went in. The room was clean and has an attached bathroom, small coffee maker, and a fridge.. There is a separate kitchen with a bigger fridge, microwave, stoves, dishes, cups, utensils, etc. However, you would have to pay to use the microwave. There is a small grocery just across the guesthouse. It was kinda of nice for us as we traveled with a little baby. Overall the guesthouse was good for the price. The owners were nice enough to offer us a free day pass to the ferry to the different islands. There was free wifi but it didn't really work.||The guesthouse is located about less than a mile from the main promenade. Along the promenade you will find different restaurants/bars and ferry stations. It's really convenient. Driving is also an option. Parking in the main center didn't seem to be too bad. Overall this place is very good in terms of price, cleanliness,...
Read moreThe location is great and has a very fair price. ||Is located out of the downtown area and has a lot of parking lots surrounding. ||The room is big and does not correspond to the pictures I have seen in the web, is much much much better! I was really surprised, all renovated, great bathroom with great lighting, refrigerator.. ||also has a supermarket less than 1 min walking, which made our life much easier. is around 15 to 20 min walking to downtown but only 5 minutes walking to go to the boat taxi that takes you to see the islands on Maggiore Lake. ||Barbara was a great host! thanks, would definitely indicate...
