On the evening of our arrival, we were treated to a "welcome" drink, which consisted of a half an inch of wine in a plastic cup!! Christmas Day however, saw a whole inch of sparkly wine in a proper champagne glass at lunch!||||The room was basic but clean, except for very grubby wardrobe doors. The heating consisted of a radiator in the bathroom and a wall mounted electric heater/air conditioning unit. The bathroom radiator achieved lukewarm status for 2 short periods during our 5 night stay. The electric heater randomly blasted out cold air at varying intervals, whether it was switched on or off or any position in between !! We slept in our coats most nights but an extra blanket was provided on request. We tried to resolve the heating problem with a gentleman (we were later told that he is the owner) on reception but were just grunted at and shown a laminated diagram of the heating dial !!||||The only thing colder than our room was the food. It ranged from stone cold to lukewarm, with only one exception during our whole stay and that was the soup on night 5, which achieved hot status !! The food was described as "edible" by most on our table of 6 and very occasionally, some dishes verged on being "tasty". ||||The only drinks included were tea, coffee and juices at breakfast. No drinks were included at dinner - water and all other drinks had to be purchased. The bar also ran out of ice on 2 nights of a 5 night stay.||||We only managed to connect to wi-fi very briefly in the hotel lobby area. Wi-fi was not available in our room.||||There were no major problems but everything just felt a little lackluster and a bare minimum approach appeared to have been taken to everything. Profit margin is, of course, important to all hotels but customers also need to feel valued and that feeling was lacking at this hotel. Hotel Mizar needs to be a lot less Grinch and a little more...
Read moreI stayed here in June 2025 as part of a sightseeing tour with Leger. I had a room on the ground floor with a large double bed and a huge bathroom. I think that my room was one of the few to have a working safe as when talking to my fellow adventurers, theirs were disconnected. My fridge also didn't work. I don't know if the aircon did as thankfully it wasn't so hot that I needed to use it, but the shower worked, the room was clean and comfy and I wasn't in it much anyway apart from to sleep and get washed. The sockets in the room didn't fit my European adapter, but you could rent an adapter from reception for 10 Euros which was returned to you when you returned the adapter. The pool area and bar area was really nice and any spare time I had I spent round the pool. It is just a typical Italian low budget hotel. Charming but rundown. The food that we had however was delish. It was a continental breakfast with fruit, cereal, pastries, scrambled eggs, bacon, cold meats etc. We were on trips every day so ate out for dinner. Tea was five courses. Soup, then a small pasta dish, then your main meal, usually a meat, fish or vegetarian dish, then a salad course and then dessert. It wasn't gourmet food, but it was hot and tasty. I would have liked a few more vegetables, but that was my only quibble. The staff were pleasant and obliging, especially the young woman on reception and the young lad who ran the bar. It was a good location for travelling to the trips we had planned. There were some restaurants around, but they were a good 15 mins walk away. As we ate in the hotel, it wasn't an issue for me. There is a very good cafe opposite that serves amazing ice cream, tea, coffee and...
Read moreStayed here for six nights on an organised coach trip. Bit of a chaotic check in when only one member of staff was available to check in the coach of over 40 people. After waiting for some time for our luggage to arrive, I went in search of it to eventually find our case abandoned in a corridor. The rooms are dated, but functional and clean. Safe and fridge in room but no coffee or tea maker. No cash accepted at the bar and you run up a tab for the duration of your stay. The air conditioning seemed to have a mind of its own until we found out that the master switch for the whole hotel is behind the front desk and was regularly turned off by the management. Went for the evening meal on our first night before we decided that we would eat out for the rest of our stay. Bland, plain and dry food. During the course of our stay more and more people from our party decided to eat out. The pool was nice but the immediate area around it wasn't maintained - see photo of the grassed area. This hotel is probably nearer to a 2* than a 4*. The only positive was the very quick WiFi connection. We wouldn't choose to stay here again. During our stay another coach party arrived from Holland, so as long as this hotel keeps getting this guaranteed income it doesn't...
