The hotel doesn't look bad standing outside, nor even in the lobby. However once you're out of the elevator you swiftly realize you've booked a mistake. The carpets are the first thing you see, stained with more drips, drops, and spills than you thought was physically possible. Perhaps a war was fought on each floor in a bloody battle? The rooms are worse somehow. Traditionally, Japanese dwellings have a place you remove your shoes in the entry way, it's not considered optional for the Japanese. You don't walk around the place you live with shoes. Court Hotel Hamamatsu has no such place, thus the light tan carpets have a trail of black misery all the way to the bed. I've stayed in many hotels in America in which obviously you don't have a place specified to take your shoes off, however I have never been in a hotel with such filthy carpets. Next comes the air conditioning in a humid and fiery hot environment. It is essentially nonexistent. I had to cool the tiny room down by opening the mini fridge and misting cold water in the bathroom. It still wasn't enough so I wetted a towl and used it as a cool blanket. To finish the breakfast was fairly pathetic. Though the food was a typical Japanese breakfast, it wasn't of great quality. Not much to say on it aside from that. The staff were a bit like zombies though. With small renovations the hotel could be a rather nice place to stay, however as it lies now I will never be staying there nor will I ever recommend...
Read moreBusiness hotel that could be nice with a few changes, but is just mediocre. It was a very good price and I can see why. It was fine for the 1 night we were passing through. The carpet is just unbelievable! It's so dirty that I'm truly amazed they don't replace it. It's hard to notice past it that the hotel itself is actually fairly nice. I was surprised it was this way even inside the rooms as usually shoes are taken off inside hotel rooms, but we had 2 rooms and both did not have slippers and the carpets were disgustingly dirty. We used the baggage fabric strip that comes in the end of our beds for a carpet runner to walk on while in the rooms. The rooms are pretty small, but that's very common in Japan and for a cheaper place. They have an ok breakfast in the morning, but could be improved. The parking is in a sketchy and dirty garage around the corner. I wasn't too worried as it's in Japan, but there were quite a few foreign, loitering men late at night when we arrived. The front desk staff were like slightly rude zombies when we arrived, but others were really nice and friendly the next day. There is a 7-11 just around the corner and it was a very convenient place to stay just passing through. I wouldn't stay there again, but it suited our needs for a night and was...
Read moreOverall pretty grungy, dated, and not entirely pleasant, but it was a cheap one night stop. It did come with a breakfast buffet as well.
If you want a very inexpensive stay this place works just fine, but I wasn't impressed by any means.
The AC is like a midget in a mini fridge blowing air out through a straw; however easily my biggest complaint is surprisingly the carpets of all things. It looked like something out of a post apocalyptic zombie movie. I didn't want to step on it with my bare feet in my own room.
It actually seems like the carpet is inexplicably older than the hotel itself. It is like a New York City parking lot stayed the night. I have never seen a carpet blanketed in so many dark splotches and stains in my entire life. It stands to doubt whether a turbo combination of Mike Rowe and Stanley Steamer would be able to handle the...
