This place was truly memorable. The owner is so incredibly passionate not only about mental health but reviving his community. He is a knowledgeable healthcare professional being certified in acupuncture. Services you can also request from him. The hotel embodied kindness and ease, even though we were foreign tourist we found the location to be pleasant and comforting. The rooms offer a superb ambiance of rest, relaxation, and Japanese tranquility. The owner is so passionate about shining a light on small businesses in the area and helping his community thrive. The Japanese garden is so serene, and the historical elements are unmatched. I cannot highly recommend this hotel and this location enough. It is filled with such kind people who are so excited to see and welcome visitors. p.s. Below are amazing places around the hotel that I highly recommend. 1. meranger - organic jams and cheese cakes 2. Nonoya (野々家) - Japanese style grilled chicken restaurant 3. NEWOLD (ニューオールド) - restaurant and coffee shop 4. Ikeda Traditional Confectioner (池田製菓舗) - Japanese traditional local sweets 5. Gekka (月花) - Japanese pottery store

I absolutely love everything about this place! Every little detail is so well thought out, and the design is neat and beautiful. The garden is so lovely, making the house feel peaceful and refreshing. The manager is incredibly warm and welcoming, super polite, kind, and always greeting us with a friendly smile. Thank you so much for this wonderful experience. Hopefully, we’ll have the chance to come back again 🥰

Nipponia Kosa (甲佐) bringsu the small Kosa together with neighborhood bonus program! A small, lovely but super genuine hotel with lots of attention to details, sitting right next to a small river, with bakery behind the check in counter, so the scent of fresh bread welcomes you! Such combination can only be seen in a (宮崎駿) Miyazaki Hayao movie! How lovely!

I stayed at Nipponia Kosa right around the time it opened with my wife and baby. The hotel is about a block away from the town’s bus center, an easy walk even with luggage. They also have free parking if you come by car. ||||The first thing you'll notice about the hotel is the building. It's a renovated building from the Meiji era. The design utilizes a stylish blend of traditional Japanese elements with sleek modern Japanese design. A lot of the walls and wood details are from the original building, well over 100 years old. But everything is extremely deliberate, well cared for, and meticulously clean. ||||The management staff, a married couple, are extremely friendly and helpful. Although I am proficient at Japanese, they were happy to use plenty of English to make my family more comfortable. Upon arrival we were served locally produced tea and sweets while we sat in the veranda area and I filled out our check-in information. The veranda is a huge draw of the hotel. It's a beautiful feature that wraps around several areas of the hotel and opens into the traditional Japanese courtyard garden.||||We were also given a nice map of the area with interesting shops and restaurants highlighted, along with a card to receive special deals at selected businesses. The hotel also has connections to local sight-seeing attractions and are happy to set up something for you based on your interests. I believe they offer a shuttle to certain places of interest in town, such as an area with paddleboat rentals and an outdoor cinema. There are also bikes that guests can use for free to explore on their own. When making a reservation, be sure to ask about what experiences in the local area they can arrange for you.||||The hotel has 3 suits. We stayed in the Shichi Room. The manager explained that this room was once part of a pawnbroker's shop around 130 years ago. Many of the original antiques from the shop, such as weights, scales, and cabinetry, are used to decorate the room. The door to the stairwell to the bedroom is even the original vault door! It really felt like stepping through a door into the past.||||The bathroom is luxurious, with a modern shower fixture and a traditional iron deep basin bathtub for a relaxing bath. The toilet room a separate area with a modern toilet with a heated seat and all the fancy bidet settings.||||The bedroom is extremely comfortable with two plush beds. A private veranda wraps around the room with a view of the canals and little town below. There are several Japanese ikebana flower arrangements in the room, and the wall above the beds has a beautiful locally handmade piece of art. The room also has a sitting tatami area with a floor table, cushions, a small fridge, an electric kettle, and a small selection of tea and coffee.||||We relaxed in the room, then explored the town. We ate dinner at a local Italian restaurant called Trattoria San Vito. I highly recommend it. After dinner we enjoyed sitting in the veranda area and sipping tea while viewing the Japanese garden.||||In the morning, the manager delivered breakfast right to the table in our room. It was a traditional Japanese breakfast prepared fresh by the chef of a nearby restaurant. We had the local specialty, salt-grilled ayu sweetfish accompanied by various sides, including pickled vegetables, miso soup, and rice. All the ingredients were sourced from farmers in the area. It was delicious.||||Nippona Kosa Canal Town gets my highest recommendation. It's not just a hotel, it's an entire experience. You won’t find anything like...
