We had a perfect stay here at Iraph. I have read bad reviews and so I was not sure of what to expect but I would like to thank the following staff: Tatsuya for being so accommodating during the sunset delight. They offer free flow of champagne (alcohol and non-alcohol) from 5:30pm -6:30pm. Arnaud did great in serving our dinner which was pricey but I would say it was worth it. Food was good and very satisfying compared to other reviews I saw. I recommend you try to have your meals at the hotel if you do not want to walk about 10-15min to get to the closest restaurant.
Haruka,Misa, Miho and all the staff who were so kind to assist us with all our needs. We are a member of the Marriott Bonvoy and so we had free drinks during our stay. They never made us feel that we are such a bother when we order for refills specifically mango juice! It’s the best one we have ever tasted.
Midori san was the one who we spoke to on the phone and made sure all my inquiries were answered and she speaks English too.
I might forget some names but all the staff are professionally trained to give the best service to their guests.
Here’s some tips to make your stay even more worth it. Free pick up but you have to advice them 3days ahead or it will cost you 5,500 one way about 20min drive from the airport.
You can ask them to cut the Welcome fruit platter in your room so you don’t worry about being messy.
We stayed for my mother’s birthday and we asked them to prepare whole cake and be delivered in our suite room.
Free bath salt making activity which you can use later during bath time.
If you are into yoga they offer free class for 30 Min. At least the time we stayed.
I love how bottled water is free and it is everywhere. When you walk to the beach which is about 10 min walk to the closest one, they provide beach towels and bags at the entrance which you can take with you. In your room you will find beach slippers too so you can use that if you do not mind wearing new rubber slippers.
They also offer turn down service where they will prepare your room for your good night rest. Changing towels and they leave a little present like chocolate or candy too.
Room are spacious and clean but the pool at the suite is a little small but we enjoyed it a lot!
The bed was hard but surprisingly was comfortable for us.
I would rate it 9.9/10 cuz the beach was a bit of a walk but other than that I would highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a good service and luxurious feeling for your celebration.
Thanks again to all of you who made our trip a...
Read moreI have stayed in 100’s of Marriott/SPG Bonvoy hotels around the world and this is definitely not a luxury hotel. It is extremely overpriced and should be removed from the Bonvoy Luxury collection. Three reasons why you should NOT stay here if you are looking for a luxury stay on Miyakojima: (1) The hotel is extremely small, especially the pool. Half of the guests are families with small children, so relaxing with your partner by the pool is not an option. This also makes the dining room loud and not very relaxing. (2) The rooms are not very nice. I love firm beds, but the bed in our room was barely more comfortable than sleeping on the floor. In addition, we had a corner ocean view room, but the room itself was unexceptional compared to the many other luxurious hotels I have stayed at. (3) Rude staff and poor service. Some of the staff are wonderful, but the supervisor at this hotel really ruined our stay. We checked in for our honeymoon and everything was fine, then after dinner, the supervisor approached us and said she actually had to charge us more money because my partner was not included in the original check in. I know in Japan some places will add more expense for another adult, but this upset me for three reasons: (1) the hotel is already way over priced, and also includes a 15%(!) service fee (and the service is poor); (2) this was their mistake when they checked us in. In addition, there was a typhoon approaching and our 3 night stay had to be cut to 1 night, so dinner was very stressful trying to arrange fly out arrangements and rebuilding our itinerary. The last thing I want after a nice dinner is to be approached and told I owe more money. When I expressed I was upset by this, the supervisor was very condescending: “oh, are you tired from jet lag?” “Did you have some drinks during dinner.” The entire experience was very insulting. (3) We stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Tokyo as well as some luxury Marriott hotels in Kyoto, and none of them charged either an additional amount for the second adult nor a service fee. All of these factors make this a reason we will never go back to this hotel, and you should not go here either. It seems like anyone who has left a positive review here really hasn’t traveled much and doesn’t know what a hotel at this price point should get you. Check out the newer hotels on the island with more beautiful pools and better value...
Read moreI had read all the reviews so should have known what I was going to get and to be honest the hotel grew on me the longer we stayed. I've rated it 3 stars as it was passable. With a few adjustments, this hotel has the bones to be great and not just average.
Cannot speak more highly of the staff for accommodating our requests and booking activities for us. What was missing was pool service and a greater attentiveness within the restaurant. It may have been due to the language barrier however when we had lunch, we were not offered drinks besides water and the follow up was not particularly great.
There was also a lack of atmosphere outside with furniture being fold out chairs and tables for the most part. Some additional styling would have gone a long way and proper maintenance. The sunsets from the property are truly amazing though and the happy hour while watching the sunset was fantastic.
My rating is on the basis that it is described as a luxury collection hotel and value for the price we paid.
Food was passable but not up to scratch for a luxury offering as well as the pricing being very high for what it was. With my burger I was given a handful of fries as accompaniments. It was very sorry looking. My A&W burger and meal was 20 times better at 1/4 of the price.
Facilities were sparse with just the single pool and no gym. Maintenance of the grounds could also have been better with outdoor equipment not in fantastic condition as well as there being cleaning equipment left out in the open. Outdoor furniture also was budget and didnt have a lux feel.
No pool side service which should have been a given at this level of 5 star hotel. Some light music might have been nice throughout the day at the pool as well to create some atmosphere.
Bed was extremely hard which I had read in the reviews prior to booking although I didn't realise it would feel like sleeping on a table! Having said that I didnt get a back ache from it...
Rooms are sparsely decorated and could do with some sprucing up however floor plates were large and we did get upgraded to a room with...
