I wish there were words to describe my short yet extremely memorable stay at Enman Guest House. I arrived January 27th from Manila and stayed 2 nights. It was my first ever visit to Japan, but didn’t have any trouble finding the house as the owner, Takeshi, provided very clear instructions on how to get there. I arrived quite late in the night, but was greeted by Takeshi with a warm smile--I already knew then that it was going to be an amazing trip.
After making introductions, Takeshi gave me a tour of the guesthouse and explained the house rules clearly. The house had two toilets (separate male and female toilets), one shower room, a laundry room, a lounge area, and a kitchen (with free coffee and tea!), which were all very clean and spotless. I’ve never been so impressed with a guest house before. He also spoke English well and gave me tips on getting around Kyoto and Osaka. I asked too many questions about the commute and he answered them all graciously and patiently. The location of the house was also very convenient as it was only a few minutes walk from a number of bars, restaurants, convenience stores, the subway, the airport bus stop, and the Keihan railway station.
I was also very pleased with the 4-person female dorm. The temperature can be adjusted to your preference, and each bed has a curtain to ensure your privacy. The room also has a rack where you can hang all your clothes. They also provide you a towel.
But the amazing facilities were not even the best part of the guest house—rather, it was getting to chat and hear the stories of the owners themselves, Takeshi and his wife, Yumi. I learned countless things about life and culture in Japan and I realized in our talks that these are two people who embrace all kinds of new experiences. These are two people who live very simple, and yet very satisfying lives, and they have inspired me to live my life the way they have. I was so happy and grateful with my stay with them that I found myself crying on the way to the train station after saying our goodbyes. I remember thinking to myself, I have never met two people so kind, warm and welcoming.
Enman Guest House was home for me. And I’m sure it would be...
Read moreTakeshisan, and his wife, were very kind to me. I had trouble finding the place due do google maps, and Takeshi not only came out to meet me; he was also riding his bike around the area looking to see if I got lost. As I had just moved to Japan for work, and was staying at the guest house until I found a permanent residence, both he and his wife went over and beyond in assisting me to feel welcome and get settled in Japan. Their kindness extended not only to assisting me in finding the easiest and cheapest routes to get to work; they also gave me advice on everything from finding an apartment to setting up wifi to taking me and other guests to a local museum. I couldn't have asked for nicer people to spend my first days in Japan with.
The guest house itself is extremely clean, quiet and peaceful. There is free coffee, a kitchen for the guest to cook in, and the neighborhood is a quiet residential area. That being said, there is no curfew, and guest house owners were fine with me coming and going when I wanted so long as I was respectful and quiet when doing so, so as to not disturb other guests. All in all, a great experience and I would recommend...
Read moreI stayed 'Enman guest house Osaka' for 4days with my friend. Actually I didn't know that 'Enman guest house' is a guest house before they told me. Because There is a room that is very personal and also very quiet too. I heard there are 3 room more that for family, and other guests. Anyway. Takeshi and Yumi are best house owners I ever met. They are really kind and they let us know about tourist attraction and some transitional place. Actually I didn't like to pay much for Hotel or other things like home when I'm on travel. because like hotel, that means nothing to me. It just where I stay for a few nights. and I could fall a sleep pretty well wherever I stayed. But after I stayed Enman. My mind changes. House where people stay on their travel is very important things especially Home that make them comfortable is really amazing! I didn't know like that feeling before. So Staying in Enman is my special experience. If I come again back to japan. I totally will go again Enman!!! Thanks Takeshi and Yumi. I can't forget that experience ever.
