Hello dear noisy city-escapers, nature and garden lovers! I would like to share my experience with you from the magic garden (not rating the accommodation). I am a german agricultural student and asked Jerome the favour of explaining his whole concept. So, I visited and he did. I can tell you, if your new and interested in this way of a sustainable agriculture, he is definitly the one to introduce it to you. He has what it takes to inspire the young and the old. When you hear about a "food forest" you automatically think about gardening. But there are many more tasks. To mention a few, the field of design, carpentry, welding, constructing, media, cooking, preserving or community building are needed to make a place like this alive. I think the two of them are doing a pretty good job so far. Jerome said, whats even more important, than all this, is the spark and motivation to creat something for yourself and other poeple without harming the environment, but living in a symbiosis together. I agree with him 100 percent. In my opinion we should all prepare for a change to do things more together. If we all start acting at the local level, we will be able to influence the global level. The Niwamori-project is one of the best examples for sustainable living at the "garden scale level", I have seen in my entire life (and I have seen many). So, get your inspiration there and or contribute to this project and then you do, what you think you need to. Not difficult. To all the people, who are reading this. Lets have trust. Lets be the change. Feel what is...
Read moreWe stayed for 3 weeks and already wishing to come back. The best experience I’ve had in japan. I learned so much about permaculture, different ways of life and reflecting on ones impact on the world. I will be taking back so many useful and eco-friendly permaculture tips and tricks back to Canada. Can’t say enough about our amazing hosts, they turned into what we hope are longtime friends. Abundant and delicious farm to table meals everyday. We learned so many recipes with all the rich vegetables they are growing right in their backyard. Beautiful traditional Japanese home and interior and impressive Japanese garden that’s been in the family for centuries. Can’t recommend this place more, such a unique and important experience in my life. Everyone should be apart of the Bio...
Read morewe went to niwamori place last holiday and had a wonderful stay at their house. We are a busy couple and we wanted to escape the city for a weekend, to experience something different with the kids. They have this lovely space upstairs with a view on the forest garden from which we got to taste some of Jerome's home grown vegetables. The place is just outside Nara center but just 50m from the bus stop so it's very easy to access. I really liked the futons and tatami room, it was so cosy and quiet. Don't forget to open the windows to hear the garden birds, it's so relaxing. Highly...
