The location is the main attraction of this hotel. They are right next to the Dogashima land crossing and ocean view rooms offer a beautiful scenery. There are very few hotels in this area so they do have the market cornered, so to speak. The properly is old and very much in need of repair. Water damaged exterior, paint peeling interior, dirty windows and rooms smell of mold. We paid the equivalent of a Tokyo/ Osaka 4-star hotel half-board for one night’s stay. The key difference being there there was no service provided by Dogashima Onsen Hotel: you pour your own drinks at happy hour, no meals included or futon preparation service. The pool was closed and the women’s sauna was not working during our visit, neither was mentioned by the front desk at check in. This is two weeks before the start of summer season. There is very minimal non-Japanese signage on the property. I read a little kanji so was able to get around, but it is clear the hotel primarily caters for domestic guests. It felt like we were promised a beautiful horse but received a donkey. I will not be staying here again.

We just returned from a one night stay at this hidden gem in Dogashima. While our friends recommended us higher end choices in the neighbourhood, we decided to give this old establishment a try as we were attracted by its outdoor onsen and its 50th anniversary offer on its website.||||The hotel is a bit of a walk from the Dongashima bus stop, gentle upslope for about 10mins which is quite manageable. There is shuttle but we didnt call due to language barrier. Arriving at hotel, the hotel looked old and obviously passed its prime. But japanese has a way to keep everything clean and tidy and made you feel right. But i'd say it has the best location in this area as the hotel is situated right across the famous island. Therefore all the rooms have a nice view over the islands and the ocean with a fabulous sunset. Room is spacious and clean. Fully equipped with lots of yukata for you to change into in case you wet your clothing in onsen.||||Dinner and breakfast were served in dining hall, at 6/7pm or 7:30/8am respectively. There was a wide selection and ample of nicely prepared food to make sure you leave the hall with full stomach. The waitress didnt speak english but always serve you with a big smile. ||||The best part i love was the onsen. Most of the time me and my husband had the outdoor onsen to ourselves, Perhaps it was a weekday and the hotel wasnt crowded. And we had very zen time in the hotspring with an amazing view of the islands and the sound of waves beating ashore.||||There was a swimming poor but we didnt use. You can walk from hotel pool area to the beach and made your way to the islands on low tide!||||I would definitely return to this hotel. It has amazing value and service. The hotel only appeared dated but i would give it a solid 85/100 given the great deal it offered. the outdoor hotspring is a solid 100 and even look way better than what appeared on its website. i cant...

Just checked out today after a 1 night stay. We just couldn't wait to get out of the hotel as early as we can. This is definitely not Japan's standard. Other than the food which is fresh, the rest are all stale and mouldy. We got a room which is near the toilets and the whole night the room was stenched with sewage smell. Did not bother to call or change the room as they seriously had communications problems. Just wonder why they are still selling the rooms. The hot bath aka 'ONSEN' are like centuries ago, blue tiles just like the swimming pools. I just wondered how they coped during the peak season with their so called outdoor onsen which can accommodate at most 5 at any 1 time. It's really inconvenient as in you need to shower in the main bath and walk down to the open bath. And mind you, the open bath is blocked by at least 2 third from the sea. ||This is one of the most scariest encounter I had for a long time with an accommodation. Just wondered how and why I had booked this place. I had always hold regards to the japanese for maintaining high standards and this is definitely a disappointment as it didn't come cheap too.||The moment you stepped into the floor, there is a kind of mouldy smell and we were already feeling 'omg'. Upon entering the room, the mouldy smells became apparent and I thought we could dissipate it by opening the windows. Open the window we did, but the mossies began to gather, forcing us to close the doors and made matters worse.||To those who are considering this establishment, do give a...
