Hiyori Ocean Resort Okinawa — Hotel in Onna

The Good:|Our hotel room was like a studio apartment including a functional, well equipped kitchen. There was plenty of space to move around without feeling cramped at all. It was a nice living space. The service was very good. The staff were very friendly and responsive. The breakfast buffet was very good with a good assortment of typical buffet foods as well as local cuisine. If you are someone who likes a very firm mattress, you’ll like this hotel. ||My Negatives:|While I liked the hotel, overall, the fact that it is inappropriately named an ocean resort knocks it down a star right off the bat for me. To call it an ocean resort just because you can see the water from the hotel is like naming a hotel in New Jersey an NYC hotel because you can see the NYC Skyline. There is no access to the water (other than the pool). Getting to the ocean requires a car where you have to pay $30-50 per day for beach access, parking, an umbrella and chairs. To me, an ocean resort is one where you have direct access to the ocean from the resort.||Having started off at 4 stars, I have to knock it down another star due to the fact that the bed/couch were both very hard and uncomfortable. I tried everything from propping myself up with pillows, sleeping on the couch, sleeping on the actual pillows and nothing worked. I could not get comfortable and my back was killing me the whole time. I did not get good sleep.||It seems a trend in Japan that the beds in hotels are hard as a rock. I would hope that hotels would keep in mind that not everyone likes or is even able to sleep on a hard mattress. Why not try...

All has been excellent. Room service fantastic. Amenities 5 stars . Amazing polite and professional staff. They were all attentive and highly aware . All staff willing to help and serve.Most likely the cleanest hotel I have seen in decades. Super family friendly. Great deck and pool space not too sunny and hot until early afternoon. I ran my finger over everything and rarely found a spec of dust. Only had 1 meal it wasn't bad but it didn't quite match the rest of the program. Still I should have tried breakfast or other entrees. So its unfair based on 1 meal to judge the food . This place has been a highlight of my trip to Okinawa . I highly encourage everyone to stay at this resort ...regardless of your expectations you will be very satisfied. We were treated kindly and respectfully the entire time. The staff were so warm and accommodating. The amenities and the layout of the room was very well thought through - I have never stayed in a hotel which provided a curling iron in addition to the dryer. There were also a great washing machine with all the thing you would need to do any laundry. The kitchen were properly suited up with everything you need for cooking plus more. Coffee and tea were great. All the cords you would need (even if you had forgotten your charging cable) were provided. Two types of pillows were there. The housekeeping team - gosh, so thoughtful and considerate. Way above what I have seen even in top hotels. I want to go back. Food in the restaurants were amazing and...
