Hyatt Regency Seragaki Island, Okinawa — Hotel in Onna

A beautifully located resort with exceptional hospitality and relaxing amenities. While certain aspects of the stay were delightful, especially the Regency Club service, private beach, and dining at Shirakachi Robata, there were a few concerns around service quality in other restaurants, gym facilities, and limited nearby activities.||Pros:||Convenient Access: Approx. 1-hour drive from Naha Airport. Highly recommend pre-booking a Hiace van (¥20,000 for 4 adults with luggage) through the hotel.||Exceptional Arrival Experience: Warm welcome; bags taken curbside; personal check-in by "Lee" at the 3rd floor Regency Club within 15 minutes, truly seamless.||Comfortable Rooms: Ocean View Suite was spacious with a great balcony, perfect for families.||Regency Club Access:||Complimentary breakfast (7–10am) and happy hour (5–7pm) daily.||“Lee,” concierge staff “Z Wang” & “N Ishi,” and chefs “Ali” & “Jotoro” provided truly personal and courteous service—especially toward our children.||Shirakachi Robata Restaurant:||Excellent dining experience, where chefs prepare food at the center grill, creating a warm and engaging atmosphere.||Food was delicious, and the service was very welcoming.||A special bonus: fireworks from a neighboring hotel across the bay could be seen from the balcony each evening, an unexpected delight that thrilled the kids!||Spa Experience: Holistic 60-min massage by “M Tanaka” was outstanding.||Facilities:||Saltwater pool was never overcrowded. Poolside service by “Takara” was fantastic.||Private beach with activities like Mighty Duck & Banana Boat was safe and fun for kids.||Clean, modern self-service laundry room (no detergent needed; QR code-based).||Hot tubs, steam room, and indoor pool provided great relaxation.||Rental Car Convenience: Orix brought the car directly to the hotel. Straightforward process without need for ETC pass.||Cons:||Remote Location: Very little in the immediate area, just a small shop 10 mins away. A rental car is necessary.||Limited On-Site Store Selection: Minimal variety for Western travelers (e.g. snacks/drinks).||Dining Issues:||Cucina (Italian): Extremely poor service. Waited 25+ mins for water/drinks. Major language barrier (Google Translate used).||Serale (Buffet): Lunchtime buffet disappointing; staff lacked training and English skills.||Gym: Small, outdated, with only 3 treadmills. Not suited to a resort of this size.||Cabana Safety Concern: Flimsy build not suited to Okinawa’s winds; part collapsed near child. Hotel did remove charge for that day.||Lack of Entertainment: No daytime poolside events or evening lobby activities. Kids' club appeared underwhelming with little engagement.||Final Verdict:|Hyatt Regency Seragaki Island offers warm hospitality and serene oceanfront relaxation, especially with Regency Club access and the standout Shirakachi Robata dining experience. However, its remote location and inconsistent service in other areas may disappoint travelers expecting a polished international standard. With a rental car and the right expectations, it can still be an enjoyable family getaway—especially for those who value peace, personalized service, and...

Over-all, I think the hotel was nice. There were a few things that could use some improvement. When we first arrived (we woke-up at 3am to catch a 7am flight; we arrived early in the morning because the flight we took got us to the hotel at about 10am, we knew we would not be able to check-into our room) When we first arrived, the woman handling our luggage kept telling my wife, "you can't check-in, you can't check-in" and they seemed a bit frustrated when we went to check-in (basically checking in to let them know we were there but we realized that we could not get our rooms until 3pm). Then we got our swimsuits out of our luggage which seemed to frazzle her even more (because she was waiting for us so she could put the luggage in storage). All that aside, we finally got out to the swimming pool to just grab something to eat and relax by the pool.

While we were in Okinawa, it rained and rained and rained :). We figured we were wet in the swimming pool so it didn't matter much (we made the most of the swimming pool). We eventually went to the indoor swimming pool where the water was warmer. The first thing I noticed was that the outdoor pool used salt water and the indoor pools used extremely chlorinated water. The indoor pool had some nice chair where me and my family settled in while we waited for our room (we all fell asleep on those beach lounging chairs :). At about 3pm, we finally got our room.

The beach villa rooms were very nice. We were in room 390 which was at the end of a very long hall way. It was nice although and had a nice view. That evening we went to Shitakachi restaurant to have dinner. That was probably the highlight of our stay at The Hyatt Regency in Seragaki. It was absolutely delicious and the chef was great with our kids.

The next morning, I decided to try to go fly fishing (catch-and-release) by the bridge at the hotel (now to be fair, I did ask the hotel in an email and they did tell me I wasn't allowed to fish on their premises...but I woke up at 5:00am to give it a try and it was raining out so I didn't want to go too far). I was fishing away from the swimming areas and it was raining outside so there was nobody around. At about 9:30am, a security guard came out and told me I couldn't fish there so I went off the hotel grounds to some slippery rocks rocks to give it a try. No luck :(. I did later discover some really large fish near the bridge when the tide was coming it but it was too late...no fishing. This was all kind of disappointing given that later, we went' to another Hawaiian based hotel and they were totally fine with my fishing on their premises...the lifeguard there even watched me as I fished. Anyway, just a bit disappointing since Okinawa is supposed to be known for it's fishing culture.

Over-all, the Hyatt is a nice hotel. I cannot discredit them for that. Would I go there again? Probably not given my wife liked the other hotels service much better and I wanted to go fly fishing in Okinawa as this is my way...

Fantastic hotel!!

Location: situated in the middle of okinawa and on a side part of the main island, I believe the only thing on the side part is this hotel, so it's very quiet and basically only hyatt customers. Private beach. Car park available for self parking, but it does cost 1000 jpy per night (but read more below). Due to the isolated location, I would recommend having a car. Otherwise, it probably won't be that convenient for you to go outside unless you take a taxi.

Service: A free tuk tuk is available to take you back and forth from the car park to the hotel. It's around a 2 minute ride and the the longest we've had to wait for a tuk tuk was probably 5 minutes. The walk from the car park to the hotel is only around 5 minutes and its a nice scenic route. Hotel staff are very nice as you would expect. Tuk tuk staff will carry all your luggage and hotel staff will help you transport your luggage into your rooms. The english of the staff isnt the best but its fine as long as you listen carefully and be a little patient. Hotel has an online link where you can message them for amneties/things to borrow/any questions, etc Amneties: body wash towel, cotton buds, slippers, cotton pads, hairbrush, toothbrush, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, soap, shower cap and shaver etc. jasmine tea, green tea, and ceylon tea bags are in the room, or you can request for more (you can also request for milk). 2 bottles of water were available in the room, which they dont refill as you're expected to use the water machines on each floor to refill the water. Ice is also available. things you can borrow: sewing kit, iron, trouser press, iphone charger etc...

Hotel: hotel has a small private beach (just outside the block of rooms opposite the car park), a lagoon pool which is also similar to a beach on the hotel side, and an indoor pool. The indoor pool also has a steam room and a gym. So basically, we stayed 2 nights and we were told that, if we dont use the room cleaning service on the 2nd night, we can get a discount of ¥3,000 to use in the hotel (souvenir shop, restaurant or car park). I believe the ¥3,000 is per stay per room so even if you stay longer, its the same amount. Basically, your room doesnt get cleaned but you can still request new towels and amneties, etc. Rooms are great in size with a lovely bathroom! First time I slept sooo well in a hotel. The only downside was that my room was very far from the main elevators. they were closer to the poolside elevators, which led you to the pool area. Note: the bedside tables had a usb charger but it takes forever to charge your phone (not sure if it was just my port or what but when I used it, it said it'd take 9 hours to fully charge my phone so I ended up using the normal socket).

Overall lovely hotel. Great if you want something more luxurious and if you're looking for a beachy/pool holiday and you have a car. We regretted not booking an extra night at this hotel - which showed how...
