Awajishima Kanko Hotel — Hotel in Sumoto

We were greeted warmly at the car park by a European staff that spoke English , helped with the luggage and checked in seated at a table with tea and a small towel . |The room was a big twin room with a gorgeous view of the sea and a Japanese seated area . |The hotel was extremely generous with toiletries . Wifi was fast and the super single beds were extremely comfortable . |The onsen bags were beautifully sewn . |Best part and most memorable part was the fishing just at the back of the hotel . We were provided with rods and shrimp bait and taught how to fish . It was very easy to catch the small fishes. Between the two of us in about an hour , we caught 5 fishes. The staff were extremely helpful and even gave us two more fishes! Then we brought them to reception and with 500 yen , one could choose to get them prepared either sashimi style , tempura style or braised style . The fishes would then be served at dinner and we were extremely surprised that they could taste so good !|Dinner was buffet style and it was one of the best buffets . Sashimi , sushi and tempura were all fantastically well done . There was also the beef and delicious fried rice . Dessert was wonderful with candied fruits and small cakes and ice cream . The sesame ice cream was heavenly . |Onsen was at first and second floor. The two floors swapped for male and females the next day . I did the one on the second floor - 3 indoor pools with one bubbled - very enjoyable . I chosen Awajishima Kanko Hotel because of the opportunity to have fishing on the hotel's territory. The reservation was a birthday surprise for my husband who keens on spin fishing. The staff also helped to organize surprise kindly provided birthday cake and sparkling wine to the room. A special thanks for the gift from the hotel that we've not expected. Surprise effect could give us unforgettable memories. ||We also loved the hotel's territory with adorable hot springs and pool. The facilities of the hotel is a bit dated but I can’t recommend it enough as the hospitality is impeccable! Every staff I met in the hotel was very friendly and helpful, special shout out to Haraka (excuse me if I misspell his name) at the front desk who patiently helped with our translation with the police while we were sorting out some procedures for the rental car insurance.
