Amazing experience from start to finish. ||Upon confirmation of hotel booking, the staff for Hanagoyomi emailed to inform the FOC shuttle bus service. ||We came from Kyoto. Took a train from Kyoto station to Sannomiya station. From the train station, it's a 3-minute walk to the bus centre/ office. Bus ride to Sumoto is less than 90 mins (with a 15 mins toilet break). Journey was smooth and easy. ||The shuttle bus driver was already waiting for us when our bus arrived into Sumoto Bus Centre. ||||Check in process: the front desk staff was very helpful and explained every single detail and facility in the hotel premises. She even informed us what is available in Awaji and the must-visit spots. Even though I must say that Awaji has not many touristy spots. ||||Room: AMAZING BREATHTAKING SUNRISE SEAVIEW (remember to set your alarm clocks to watch the sunrise!) We took the Japanese-styled tatami room. Don't be surprised if you don't see a single bed in the room. The staff will set up the beds when you go for your dinner in the restaurant. Check out my pics. ||||Meals: Dinner and breakfast are provided in the hotel. They serve fresh seafood and vegetables, all homegrown in Awaji island. Delicious! Even breakfast, there are options for both western and japanese. ||||Onsen: I used both the public and private baths. Note that there is no shower facility in the private bath. Private bath only opened at 3pm. Tip: book the time before sunset. Can see the great seaview while soaking in the hot pool. I booked it at 9pm night. Can't see anything except hear the sea waves. ||||Lobby: The business centre comes with 2 computers (great for kids to spend their time while the adults relax) and tea/coffee making facilities. The lobby also has nice cozy sofas and lounge chairs (both indoors and outdoors). Just remember to bring a bottle of sake with some snacks and chit-chat over there while facing the sea. Their welcome drink is also very welcoming--somesort of grape juice? (can someone tell me what is that?) And it's free-flow. The kids love it! Even adults too. ||||Check-out process was smooth and easy. They even provide shuttle bus transport back to Sumoto Bus Centre. And their Japanese hospitality was immaculate. Bowing and waving goodbye even when the bus has traveled about 100m away. FIRST CLASS! ||||Special mention to a staff by the name of CHIHARU. Made all of us feel right at home! Took the efforts to explain the details of the hotel, the onsen and the facilities. Her English is also very good! She doubles up her front desk duties at the restaurant in the morning and evening as well. Seemed like all the staff are multitaskers, otherwise Chiharu is one amazing staff. She helped as arrange for a day-driver and check out rental car rates when her duty is at the restaurant. After check out, she sent us off to the bus and bade us farewell. Made her feel like an old friend to us. To the hotel management: you've got a gem in Chiharu! Well done. ||||Return to stay in Hanagoyomi Awaji?...
Read moreI stayed in this hotel a couple of days ago, and it was absolutely beautiful. Every single room at a sea view, which is awesome. The cheapest room standards will a sufficient if your party is about 4 people. Everything is clean, and tidy. The room was a bit smaller than I thought, but all of the staff are pleasant and polite. We were welcomed to the hotel by staff who guided us to the car, and toured us around the hotel. Most things are clear if you either can speak, listen, or read Japanese, which is a huge disability, but is understandable as most of the staff and speak simple English. The view is absolutely amazing and I would highly recommend waking up to take pictures of the sunrise. However, if you don't, remember to close the blinds or else it would be very bright. Breakfast and dinner are both served in their restaurant, which are both quite good and extravagant, sometimes with up to 10 courses However, the breakfast could have had a larger variety. The outdoor terrace next to the lobby is a wonderful place to relax, with the beautiful view and the free wifi (that is only accessible in the lobby and sometimes the restaurant). Another good place to relax is their onsen. Although they have an indoor and an outdoor onsen (the view is amazing), there are only two. However, you can always go to the other onsen from the hotels of the same chain. This hotel is very simple, but very comfy and relaxing. I highly recommend this, if you're...
Read moreI had a trip to the Awaji island last week and stayed at this hotel for 1 night. I was attracted by the sea view private onsen when I booked this hotel. I booked a room with private sea view onsen plus dinner and breakfast. I was driving there with my family but I had to drop off my family and drove to the opposite side of the hotel mysel and up on a hill to park my car and walk my way back across a bending road in the rain (it was raining that day). Parking is not so convenient for this hotel and the parking lot is shared by other adjacent hotels.|The hotel room is exactly what it advertised at Expedia. It is spacious and clean and good sea view from the room.|I checked in before the dinner time and so I decided to try my first dip into the private onsen tub. However, the water is just hot tap water with strong smell of chlorine. It's a bit disappointing that I have to spend much time to clean up myself after the chlorine dip but the sea view compensated it. They also offer a public onsen as well but I did not try it.|The dinner is good and tasty. Even the finishing touch - the small dessert is good.|Breakfast is served in buffet style. Not much variety but it's still delicious.|The staff are helpful and most of them can speak good English.|Overall, I shall rate this hotel "very good", not because of the onsen facilities but the dinning, location, the room and the staff...
