ゲストハウスアコークロー西表島 — Hotel in Taketomi

It's a basic guesthouse but it was reasonably well equipped. As it was off season we ended up using the kitchen everyday. The frying pan, pots, utensils and rice cooker were decent enough to cook with. The bathroom is new, the lighting in the room soft with a couple of lamps. A small table and chairs enabled us to have relaxed sit down meals. The supermarket was also super close and had a reasonable supply of fresh veg, frozen fish, meat and other staples. They even had Walkers' Cookies!

The beds were comfy; there is a nice little patio surrounded by grass, with chairs and a hammock if the weather is nice. We didn't use it in the off season but it is good to have the option.

The owner was friendly and informative and was willing to drop us to the local restaurants although this time we didn't ask.

I definitely recommend this owner and the accomodation for those on a budget.

Super clean!

I think the location is pretty good. You could walk to a few restaurants close by and the port isn't far away. (The ferry company bus from Uehara Port can drop you at the bus stop at Nakano beach. 5min walk to the guesthouse.)

On the first full day we used the bus to a waterfall and mangrove area (Omija Road Park). We did it ourselves without a guide though it was slippery, it was possible. W then caught the return bus a few hours later.

Kayaked to Pinasaira Waterfall the second day with a guide (half day trip) though it would be possible to do it yourself if you found out the route and have kayaked before.

One more day would have been nice to see one of the villages you can only see by boat - Funauki and IDA beach which is apparently unspoilt. Unfortunately lots of the other beaches have some plastic waste on them and you can see some of it is from...

My partner and I stayed for 4 nights and loved our time here! The owners are very friendly and helpful but you also have your own space. They gave us a great restaurant recommendation and snorkels/bicycle available to hire. Very spacious for two people (private bathroom, well equipped kitchen, sofa and communal outside seating) and clean. Local nakano beach and nearby supermarket and bus stop. We would love to have...

この宿泊施設は、全室禁煙とのルールまた売り出し方であるにもかかわらず、たばこの有害物質により深く汚染された部屋を放置しています（2024年春に発覚）。日本ではSDGsを進めるとともに、こうした宿泊者によるルール違反行為に対応するため、受動喫煙被害対策として、厚生労働省から適切な処置法について情報が提供されており、インターネットを通じて情報を入手することもできます。国立がん研究センターによる実証研究によって示された、具体的な対処策とは、オゾン処理・エアコンクリーニング・フロアクリーニング・壁紙交換・カーテンの取り換えです。適切な処置を講じてはじめて、利用者の健康被害を防ぐことができますし、従業員の健康被害を防ぐことができるのはもちろんのことです。しかしながら、この宿泊施設のオーナーは、こうした処置を講じることを拒否しました。また、「西表島の宿泊施設で、受動喫煙被害対策のために、オゾン発生器を導入している宿などない」と一蹴する発言もありました。本州においては、禁煙宿泊施設において、オゾン発生器を使用したクリーニングは普及しております。喫煙可能な宿泊施設においても使用されているほどです。もし、彼の発言が本当であるならば、西表島を世界自然遺産として貴重に思い、その自然界に身を置いての体験を求めて、はるばる訪ねてこられる、海外からの何も知らないお客様をも島ぐるみでたばこの毒害に遭わせ、襲っているということになります。宿の汚染状況について具体的に述べます。最たる汚染箇所がベッド。ベッドに座った状態で喫煙したものと思われる。また、たばこの有害物質に汚染されたままの着衣にてそのままベッドで眠ったものと思われる。汚染のレベルは深く、大御所さんが座す喫煙事務所のソファーのようであった。このように汚染されたベッドに上からポリエステル製のシーツがかぶせられ、蓋がしてあった。しかし湿度が高い当地では日毎に臭いたち、たまらずにシーツを剥がして洗濯しようとしたところ、シーツの下に隠されていた沈着した揮発性有害化学物質が一気に室内に放散され、乳がんリスクの高い女性を襲った（リスクゆえに禁煙宿泊施設を利用した女性である）。室内据え置きの乾燥機はスイッチを入れればたばこ臭を噴き出した。戸棚の中に収納されたトイレットペーパーにたばこの臭いが染み込んでおり使用できず。エアコンは怖くてついに使用しなかった。がんのリスクが高い人ばかりでなく、人と共に生きるため毎日を送っているすべての人が、この宿泊施設を利用してはいけない。毒害に遭ってしまう。また、近隣のスーパー八重も「待ち子」がたばこをふかしながら立ちんぼするスーパーに変わった。2024年のことである。店内はたばこの臭いが充満。たばこの毒害に起因する病＝精子の減少／卵巣障害／子宮内膜症／子宮体がん／肺がん／心筋梗塞／乳がん等。また、たばこの有害物質が付着した衣類を洗濯することで海に有害物質が放出され、海の生命に発が...
