Luana Mele Iriomote — Hotel in Taketomi

We were a family of 4 with two teenage boys. We stayed for 5 nights, taking the condominium for us, and a western style twin room for the boys. The condominium has particularly good views over the garden and stunning bay, being on the 1st floor. Sit on the swing chair on your balcony and breathe it all in. |The swimming pool (open summer only) was spotlessly clean and very very welcome. From the garden you go through a tunnel of bushes and you are directly on Star sand beach. Stunning and safe snorkeling, and jaw dropping beauty. |The new owners are just the loveliest, and spoke some English - plus had a clever translation machine you can speak into if needed. The dining room for dinner and breakfast has amazing views, and they play great chilled out tunes at just the right volume. |The food was superb, so much care and beautiful tiny dishes. Really delicious. Amazing value for dinner at 1,000 yen too. |We did two days of activities (waterfalls, kayaking, mangroves, catamaran, snorkeling, turtles) and chilled for 2 days. |If you want five star luxury, the island of Iriomote is not for you. But if you want to explored Japan’s last untouched final frontier and love nature both on land and in the sea, then Iriomote and Luana Mele are for you! It feels like Lost, or Jurassic Park could have been filmed on any of those deserted bays. Out...

🏨 Excellent accommodation in Iriomote. The rooms are actually separate cottages. They are clean, well-maintained and fairly big for non-American standards.

If you have a chance to stay here, do yourself a favor and take a half-board plan. There are few restaurants on the island and the meals here are top quality, both breakfast and dinner. Portions are big and welcome after a day of trekking.

Proximity to the hoshizuna beach is also great; the beach has this rare stat-shaped sand.

Had a perfect stay there! Hoshinosuna beach is the best beach to snorkel and swim even weather is bad! Just beside hoshinosuna beach, many coral reefs , beautiful 🐠. Have a place to dry clothes and wash before entering to the room, outside use- sandals to walk around, make intentionally dark environment to let us enjoy stars!
