Sweets Hotel — Hotel in Tokyo

I truly could not recommend this hotel less. My friend and I booked for the photo opportunities and uniqueness (didn't know it was a love hotel), and thought it would be cool. We paid in advance via a travel site. Here were the problems:

The staff were nowhere to be seen. We called twice, and someone came out but picked a random room and said we could pay on check-out, and it was the only way to leave. We'd already paid in advance, though! The room was up tiny stairs with very low ceilings. Even without bags, it would have been a struggle. All you can hear at night is the BGM and the squeaking of the animated tree. I don't recommend trying to get any sleep here, because you won't be able to. The room was messy and reeked of what I think was cigarettes, but might have been illegal herbs. The whole room smelt and was dirty, unclean sheets and dust everywhere. THERE WERE BEDBUGS. Both my friend and I got them there and it's disgusting. The bites still haven't gone away. Trying to leave, we had to call to remind the staff (who still weren't there at 10am) to let us out because we had already paid. You literally cannot leave unless they open the doors or you pay again. We tried to get a taxi back to the train station, but it was impossible. With no staff there, we couldn't get any help and the hotel is so far away you can't hail one normally. We ended up going to the Pirate Hotel next door who were incredibly helpful and kind. There staff were there on site and the cleaning was already being done. Clearly we picked the wrong hotel!

In summary, I don't recommend this place at all. Even as we went to leave, we noticed a huge rack of costumes falling apart at the seams. If that's what you're into, go somewhere with...
