Read moreWe were at this hotel a few days before Christmas, Dec. 2019. We are a couple, and our friend had booked it for us. (She was also traveling with us.) One of the tricks to traveling light in Japan, is to take a day (or 2 day) pack, and send your luggage onto a facility a few days out. That allows one to take advantage of the wonderful public transportation, without lugging bags.||||In this case, we sent our luggage onto the Osaka (KIK) airport. At KIK, we were arriving late, and staying at the relatively new Cabin Hotel. (Check my review there, as well.) When we arrived at the Cabin Hotel, the luggage was not there. Our friend had gone onto Kyoto. The people at the desk had minimal English, and I had minimal Japanese. We did use Google translate to do more communicating, and they truly had not seen our luggage.||||The situation was a tad desperate. I had my phone lifted in Osaka. (It is unusual, and there are many things you can do to retrieve lost property in Japan - but it was truly lifted, something that can happen in Osaka.) The Cabin Hotel splits the women and men, and it is made for travelers. You're isolated once you go back to your "room", but I had to go. I was exhausted and we had a flight in the morning. My husband contacted our friend in Kyoto, and also went to bed.||||I also could not figure out how
Highly Recommend this place, it’s a 10 minute walk from Tottori Station. Rooms are really nice and big, however the doorways of the room is rather short, so I constantly hit my head against the door frame, take caution for those who are tall. Internet speed is good. Staff members are very friendly and their English is very good compared to other places I’ve been. The Bath is really nice and soothing. There’s two private baths that are open 24 by 7 but is only for people staying in the Inn, one bath is indoor, the other is outdoor. The public bath is outdoor as well. Only open during the morning and evening. The traditional Japanese style breakfast is very good as well, I’ve accidentally dropped and broke a rice bowl during one fo the meals but the Staff Members told me that it’s alright, and did not charge me for it. You can even skip the breakfast if you please, they will remove the charge for the breakfast from your bill which is really nice. Just inform the front desk the night before. There’s also drink vending machines in the Inn. At the end of my stay they even gave me and my family a free ride to the Tottori Station.
A problem I had is that the Inn does not provide a Futon (Bed) And Breakfast for a child, if you indicated that your child as one on a booking website. And you will be charged extra to get a futon and breakfast for your child. Other than that, I had no other problems. Would definitely come...
Read moreThe biggest drawback was that we did not have a bathroom in our rooms (we were 10 people in 3 rooms) and had to use the public onsen. Several people in our party had tattoos, and we were not allowed to use the public onsen. We had to find time to use the private onsen, which was pretty much always occupied. 40% of all Americans have tattoos. I have never stayed at a hotel, let alone a fairly expensive hotel, that did not have a bathroom in the room. I think that if they are going to prohibit you from using the public onsen, they should either make an accommodation for you where you can reserve the private onsen or provide some kind of cover for you to put over your tattoo. I could never stay at a hotel like this again. That said, if you don’t have tattoos or they are small, you don’t mind sleeping on a mat on the floor and not having a shower/bath in your room, and you like very traditional Japanese food such as raw squid, raw octopus and raw sea urchin, this...
