Tashiro Annex is a bit far from Miyanoura port but it is walkable distance about 15-20mins walk. I arrived Yakushima in the early morning. Firstly, I brought 3 days bus ticket cost 3000 yen, actually the 2-3 day bus ticket are the same price. Then, I went to the information centre just 5 mins aways from the Miyanora port you can have basic information you need. But all those information you can get it on the website. I have all planed before going to Yakushima. ||||I went to the Tashiro Annex to drop off our luggages first before go hiking. A bus stop is just right in front of the hotel, it is a perfect time to catch up the bus to Shiratani Usuikyo. After hiking and going back to the hotel, the staff told us, our room was ready and our luggages was taken to our rooms. The staff was very friendly and always willing to help. I stayed two nights there, rooms are typical Japanese Ryokan style with tatami. The room is clean and big.||||The hotel has public hot bath and a sanar room, it is good to have a hot bath after a long day of hiking. They have a self laundry service for JPY200 wash and JPY200 for dry. Vending machine and self service paid coffee bar are in the lobby. There is an A-coop supermarket just 10 mins walk. I got off at A-coop bus stop when I returned to the hotel. ||||After a long day activity, you will be very tired and don’t want to go out to eat. I am glad that I booked the room with the meal plan. The breakfast and dinner was traditional Japanese meal and it was sooooooo good, the ladies service at the restaurant are very nice. ||||The hotel provied a free shuttle to Miyanoura port and airport. It is convenient if you are not driving. Although the bus schedule is not frequency, if you are well planned, you can go most of the sight seeing place by bus. ||||I stayed at Yakushimas for 3 day 2 nights in July 11-13, no raining at all, it was...

Read moreWe absolutely loved this stay and would recommend it to all travellers! We booked the corner room. The room was well illuminated by natural light during the day and we could see the river from our room. At night we could even hear the water flowing. There were two western single beds but we asked for futons for the full Japanese experience and loved it! The room was spacious and clean. There was a bathtub in the bathroom but we used the public bath (male and female separated) which was amazing. The public bath was quiet and spacious and there was a sauna room. Breakfast was served during 7am -830am with a well set table as shown in the picture. The staff was super kind. Just note that the walls were thin and you should expect some noise but people here are generally used to keeping their voice down. Another highlight is that you can take the bus of both the red and blue lines at the bus stop right in front of the hotel. (The blue line is for Shiratani Unsuikyo.). It is very convenient if you are not driving. The hotel is around 25 mins away from the ferry port and the walk there was pleasant and not difficult to find. Yet another great thing about this place is that you can rent mountaineering gear here at a cheap price, including shoes and rain protection. We rented the shoes here at 1,xxx yen per person (forgot the exact price) and they were very useful. It was raining for almost the whole 5h hike for us and the shoes offered a good grip and were sufficiently waterproof. You can also find little souvenirs at their shop. Honestly,...
