As part of our three-week journey through Central Asia, we stayed at Park Dedeman in Almaty. Finding a good hotel in Almaty proved difficult—most hotels are surprisingly expensive, even for basic accommodations. We traveled as a group of 20 and arrived in June 2024.||Arrival & Location:|Our experience started off poorly. Almaty International Airport was under renovation at the time, and we had to drag our luggage quite a distance because vehicles weren’t allowed into the pick-up area. Once at the hotel, we found it tucked in a residential area with narrow access—our tourist bus couldn’t enter the driveway, so we again had to drag our luggage to the lobby.||Check-In & Service:|We checked in after midnight to find only one staff member managing the entire hotel. Requests to place our family rooms near each other were ignored, and I was told there was nothing he could do due to full occupancy. It’s unclear if this was a true availability issue or a lack of authority to make adjustments. I ended up with young children on separate floors, which was highly inconvenient.||Even more surprising, the same person at the front desk was also performing housekeeping duties—delivering pillows and attending to room needs. This raised serious concerns about hotel operations and staffing levels, especially considering the hotel seemed to have around 100 rooms.||Facilities & Breakfast:|The hotel is new and clean, which is the only reason I’m giving it two stars. The design is minimalistic, and the facilities very basic. There was no bell desk or luggage assistance either at check-in or check-out. Breakfast was modest—fruits, a few hot items, coffee, and tea—but acceptable given the circumstances.||Conclusion:|Overall, Park Dedeman did not meet expectations. Despite the clean rooms and new building, the lack of staff, poor service, and logistical challenges made this stay frustrating. It’s not worth the price, and I strongly suggest exploring other options in Almaty if you want to...
Read moreThe hotel itself is new and well-maintained, with modern rooms offering nice views. Its location is convenient — close to the Expo Centre, with plenty of cafes, restaurants, and a mall just across the street.||||Unfortunately, the service and professionalism of the staff were far below expectations. I arrived at 11 AM after a long overnight flight, and despite staying for 6 nights, they insisted I pay an early check-in fee of nearly $100 just to access my room 3 hours early. When I requested some flexibility, they falsely claimed all rooms were occupied. After repeated requests, I was finally allowed to check in at 12 noon.||||Even worse, during my first night at around 5 AM, a stranger entered my room and turned on the light — he said reception had given him the key, thinking it was his room. Shortly after, a staff member knocked on my door, waking me again, though I couldn’t understand why he was there. Just as I tried to get back to sleep, the reception called the room to ask for my name. At that point, I was too anxious to sleep anymore.||||I asked to speak with the manager, only to be told they were off for the day.||||Overall, this was a very poor experience and I will not be staying at this...
Read moreI stayed here for 2 days.
At check-in, the reception insisted I had not paid, even though I had already made the payment via MakeMyTrip. I had to make international calls and spent hours resolving the issue, which caused a lot of stress.
On the second day, my wife’s eyeliner accidentally fell on the floor mat. I tried to clean it with a towel, but they still charged a $80 penalty. Even after explaining and spending the night cleaning the mat myself—and showing them it was just eyeliner, like any regular stain on a towel—they still charged me an additional $40.
Overall, my two-day stay was full of stress and headache. It’s surprising for a hotel that claims to be 4-star.
Even a simple request like an extra bottle of water cost $2.
However, I would like to thank one lady at the reception who was kind and showed empathy. She was the only bright spot in the experience
Breakfast option also great (only positive breakfast quality and one reception kind and...
