A nice hotel and the staff is excellent. But the locationâŚis NOT for tourists! It was VERY crowded and felt VERY unsafe. Poverty-stricken, dirty, and chaotic. It was insane! Being 2 women traveling alone, we are very upset our travel agency suggested this place. I was so terrified to stay there that I started crying, because we couldnât leave. We needed to be escorted just to go next door to their restaurant. There is a lot of security for that reason. Luckily, we only stayed 1 night and tried not to leave our room. The restaurant food was excellent, but the breakfast buffet was not good. They have too many staff with not enough to do, so they literally stand there watching you eat which was so awkward. The rooms had a lot of mosquitoes. You could see them on the glass of the showers. Aside from the mosquito bites and wearing sticky repellent, the city noise and dogs barking kept us up all night long. I slept all day, in the car, the next day. ||Itâs a very nice accommodation for the location, but I would definitely NOT recommend it for a tourist and especially for women traveling alone. Pay a little more and stay in a safer place. Youâll get more sleep...
Read moreEagle Palace is a beautiful hotel very close to Lake Nakuru. The front desk staff were extremely kind. We liked that the hotel had hot water, room service, a TV and they came up to fix the safe for us. The coffee shop downstairs was yummy, too. They had a great menu.||Usually, I would rate something like this either 4 or 5 stars. However, we are 2 women traveling alone and our travel agency booked this hotel. The area is awful. We were scared to walk to our safari jeep. We heard chickens all night. The hotel is in the center of a busy, third-world market, which means lots of little shacks everywhere with people selling fruit. We didnât think it would be a big deal when we booked it, but we are from Los Angeles and it was a little overwhelming for us. My friend cried because she was so scared. The security was tight, but so tight that the guard had to walk us inside. ||If youâre used to these areas or you donât really care, the hotel is definitely worth the stay. But please be safe and google maps the area and do your own research before committing. We would have changed...
Read moreThe hotel itself was excellent - very clean, comfy beds, the food was delicious (at the restaurant next door) and the service good. The hotel felt fresh and new.
However - there was no WiFi in the rooms and not even in the restaurant or the breakfast room. Sometimes you might be able to connect, but never longer than a few seconds. Don't go without an active sim card.
We got no sleep whatsoever. We were there Sunday night. There is a club nearby that blasted their music all night long. We thought it would stop at some point, but it got even louder around 3am and continued until 7am in the morning nonstop.
We thought about asking them to move rooms, but we felt bad making them clean an additional rooms (and we though the club had to close at some point).
We saw another review saying the same thing, but we thought they must have been extra sensitive. But nope - do not disregard this warning and make sure you ask for a room far away...
