Malnodez Safaris — Local services in Nakuru

It has been the most dissapointing experience in a Safari during our trip to Kenia.

We fixed a price for a hole day safari in Nakaru National Park for the 31/07/2024 with a guide called George who was supposed to come with us. The next day they increased the price 1000KES without reason, we had not choice and we had to accept. That morning George come with another person called Peter, and we lost almost one hour to enter in the park cause Peter didn't pay his fee the day before. Finally Peter was our guide, George didn't even enter.

At 14.00, Peter said us we were going to leopard zone but suddenly we realiced we were in the main gate. A guy called Paul, who was supposed to be Peters and Georges boss, calles us by Phone, and said that we had to pay another 3000KES if we wanted to continue in the park. We were so frustrated, we lost another hour speaking with Peter and Paul, but there was no any other choice, we had to pay the 3000KES with no any reason, we really felt cheated, we were cheated.

Moreover, most guides had a radio to speak with another guides and make easier the search of some animals. We didn't. They didn't even bring us a single bottle of water.

Our trip to Masai Mara National Reserve was an amazing experience! From the beginning, our guide Amos was extraordinarily nice and we always felt comfortable with him. The journey from Kisumu to Masai Mara already allowed us to see some wild animals like giraffes and zebras but nothing compared to the variety of animals at the National Reserve. My personal highlight was a family on cheetahs (one mother with four babies) but we were very lucky by also getting the chance to see some lions, hyenas, elefants, hippos and crocodiles. All together, we spent 2 nights at Masai Mara sleeping outside in a camp. There, we felt very safe and good taken of. Although we planned the Safari (or game drive how the locals called) it very spontaneously, I am happy we had the chance to do this as it is one of my fondest memories from our stay. I can really recommend doing at least a short trip to Masai Mara National Reserve as it is allows you an unique chance to see the wild...
