Lake View Hotel — Hotel in City of Kisumu

I booked a flight at the last minute and flew out to Mombasa with the Engagement Ring on Boxing Day 2004 (Tsunami Day ). after producing the ring on New Years Eve my Fiancee decided we should visit her relatives in Uholo (to show off the ring I guess), a short taxi drive from Ugunja.||On the return trip we were booked into the Imperial in Kisumu but it appeared to be a tad too pretentious for us so we wandered around looking for a place to stay that would be easy to get to most places in Kisumu and also to the Coach stop for Nairobi.||You have to enter the bar to get the receptionists attention and after a short while he comes out to sort you out a room, You dont have to ask to see the room they actually suggest it. A "small" double room only cost us Ksh1,000 in high season. their idea of a small double room would be used as a studio flat in Britain. It had an adjoining en suite bathroom with a large shower and 2 large double beds both with nets hanging over them(no holes in them either Unlike The Whispering Palms (Mombasa) & The New Victoria Hotel (Kisumu).||The Breakfasts were OK but the Pineapple might have been off.|The Staff were fine and the room relly did have a pretty good view of Lake Victoria. The only downside to this Hotel were the bland breakfasts and 1 of the receptionists allowing their friend to Phone the room every 20 minutes or so to see if we wanted to go on Lake Victoria in his Motorboat at a cost of Ksh6000 for about 10-15mins||Overall we would stay here again as it is fairly central to everything and if you need to get anywhere a boda boda is almost certain to past the hotel within 10minutes and also the price is extremely fair for what you get. ||Strange thing is though we will try somewhere different next time just to get some idea of what else...

Quiet location, convenient to town. Restaurant and lounge close-by.. walking distance to the city centre. Room is clean and spacious, and there's a nice view of the lake. Definitely on my list for everytime I'm in...
